I am due in November with this little bean, and I was just thinking about when I was due with my now toddler.

I remember that so many mammas recommended infant prefolds trifolded the wrong way into proraps covers--even got the 1 800 number for seconds. I was just thinking that it's funny that I don't see people recommending proraps as much anymore.

I wasn't the most fond of the proraps after about 2 weeks, but they did work in that time period, esp with the umbilical cord. And since I have them, well, I am going to use them along with the infant cpfs.

What is it that you rcommend the most these days for that new cding mamma that has never even seen one in real life, especially if they are on a tight budget? Just curious.

Preemie PFs for inside your Newborn covers? I saw some on the TP for a great price. New, but washed up nice. Preemies are nice because they're not so bulky inside that ProRap (which I love for newborns BTW!!!).

Oh, and how about a couple AIOs for going out?

I agree, preemie prefolds are wonderful on a small newborn and especially trifolded in a wrap as they will fit longer that way. Of course a trifold won't contain poop as well, but it should all stay within in the cover. Preemie pfs are good as doublers later on too. If you have enough cash to outlay for Kissaluv 0's they are a great investment. You can get most of your money back on resale. They are brilliant for newborns. I was never fond of proraps but I do like bummis preemie or newborn wraps.

Prowraps are good for nbs. I'd **** recommend them. But also with my nbs, I didnt use covers over their fitteds at first, since they didnt wet enough.
The other covers I used when needed were Diaperraps, the cheap velcro wraps, I picked a bunch up a a yard sale for a quarter! Worked great for nbs! Still have those I plan to use.

I still recommend Proraps for itty bitty babies. They work well and they're cheap. I used them exclusively for the first month or two with both my girls. When they got a little bigger I used a variety of covers. Bummis SWW work well and aren't too much more than Proraps. Bumpy covers are nice too but they're about double the price of a Prorap so aren't as good a choice if you're on a tight budget. As for diapers, I usually recommend a combination of premie PFs, infant PFs, and Kissaluv 0s (seconds, if you can get them, since they're much cheaper that way).

Yep, still an ok system for a newborn. My favorite wrap for the early days was BSWW though.
