ABC just covered the story about the woman kicked off the plane for
BFing. I just read it and there was something I did not know that
made me sick: They write that BFing in a public place is only legal
in 37 states. Of those, in only 31 is a woman allowed to feed a baby
in any location.

What kind of crazy world is this. I had no idea that I would be
breaking the law if I nursed my boy openly in 13 states.

Also, I was just reading the blogs and became more sick. I don't have
to go on about some people's ignorance. It is just sad.

Here is the link if you are interested.

yeah, the laws have just been passed here in the south, but some of them are exclusionary, as in saying that you can nurse your child under the age of 12 mos, etc.

Its really sad. We've been pushing to get that age thing lifted.

Breastfeeding is legal in all states. Only 37 have specific legislation protecting a baby's right to eat.

Where did you find this? In no state is it illegal to nurse a child beyond 12 months!

It's still not illegal; it just means that the specific group of people "protected" under those particular laws are infants under 12 months. I think it's very, very important to remember that no where in the United States is breastfeeding explicitly "illegal".

Nah, it's their bad. I mean, a law protecting part of the population is better than nothing, but it still does stink that they limit it to just infants.
