My daughter is having surgery this Thursday to unblock her tear duct. The Dr said no food/water after midnight, before her surgery. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br>
Well, she wakes up at least 3x a night to nurse, and she's teething right now, so she's nursing even more often than that.<br><br>
I called the Dr to see if they will allow her to nurse up to 4 hrs before the surgery instead of midnight. They had to check to make sure this was ok. They called me back and said they do allow breastfed children to nurse up until 4 hours of the surgery!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbsup"><br><br>
I am so happy she won't have to suffer any more than she has to.<br>

Yup! Mommy milk is considered a "clear fluid" for the purposes of fasting before surgery. Yay.<br><br>
Sorry your LO needs to have it done. I hope all goes well.
