for your info on circumcision and the warning to watch health 'care' professionals that try to retract. We had a UC HB with our DS and took him to the ER (mostly because of my mom freaking out that we didn't rush to the hospital), and the one resident there was feeling 'down there' (for his pulse or something) and started to retract him! Lucky for me my hands were down there too (to keep him from squirming) and I instinctively batted her hands away, telling her that I didn't want him retracted.

Thanks again everyone!

BTW, I bookmarked that link on here about the circ video and the script that was posted on here, and I email it to people I know, telling them to spread the word!

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=481025

Makes me feel good to know people are learning. Some days it feels like I am trying to get the message out about no retraction.

I know that intact boys are still not as common as cut ones unfortunately...but WTF is up with medical people and their overwhelming NEED to mess with a baby's penis...I don't get it....curiosity is no reason to molest a child!!!

sorry for the rant!!

I'm glad you were able to find valuable info on this forum. It's always nice to hear that we are making a difference.

Hi Fyrestorm! Yes, it's sad how they try that crap! I am thinking about getting some ink and writing on his stomach "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY PENIS". Why do they feel they have to mess with that, exactly the right question! There is no way the ped is retracting him, the one I took him to said he'd do it 'later', but over my dead body. @#$# so called 'medical professionals' are sometimes such brainless sheep! (apologies to sheep everywhere)

I know, trying to change people and their ignorance takes time. Hey, but keeping silent is the worst thing you can do.

It's not a rant. It's not a rant at all. Would people accept a person like that separating the labia to a girl? OH, HELL NO!!! So then WHY aren't boys treated equally [rhetorical question, because there's a natural gender INequality towards boys in circumcising countries!]. If a boy has a "loose circ" and the glans are partially covered, then what? Retraction? Why, oh, why do these brainwashed zombie NEED to see a bare glans-- even if it's for a few seconds-- in order to make themselves feel better??!! I swear... it's like it an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)-thing.

Medical person here:

Also wanted to say I´ve learned lots here about care of an intact penis (suprise...not nearly as much as one would think). While I´ve never retracted anyones penis...it not something I was ever taught. We are taught about circ care...itś just kind of the assumed thing around here. Now I know and I am quick to correct any coworkers that do it or tell parents to do it.

Well, I'm glad you know better.

But isn't it a sad state of affairs when our medical professionals don't know how to take care of a normal part of the body?

Please elaborate...I'm not sure I understand what you're saying...do we need to have more information about it here? Or are you saying that you learned alot outside of here and didn't need the info here? Or am I just missing what you are saying completely?

Congrats on the birth of your son!!

I do not get the obsession some medical personel seem to have with messing with the foreskin how difficult is it to just keep your hands off it.

Sorry my wording sucks...I meant that after reading info on it (here and other places) Ive learned that care for an intact penis is very simple. So many people seem to think it is too diffucult to clean and care for an intact penis when itś really not. I meant ¨Suprise...itś not that diffucult¨ Sorry I am not the most eloquent person ever.

Actually, I thought you worded it just fine.

I got that point from your post originally.

I beg to differ. Curiosity explains it all!

Can you not visualise the psychological milieu of the circumcised "doctor" (or female who has not experienced an intact partner)?

They do not have a foreskin to play with - or from which to benefit. The curiosity becomes unbelievably intense! You just have to investigate the unfamiliar, which is strangely, hauntingly desirable.

Can't do it to an adult so ...

Way back I attended a "revision" lecture from a delightfully outspoken psychiatrist (where are you now, Suzy?) who provoked the audience by stating that people chose the study of medicine out of sexual curiosity.

You could choose to dispute that as the only or primary reason, clearly many choose it in the expectation of making a lot of money, but "playing doctor"? I knew she was correct.

I think Paul B. is on to something. Sexual curiosity is a driving force in human affairs. I am sure that that curiosity must drive a goodly number of those who manipulate little boys' foreskins.
