Hello!

I've been reading on here for a while and you gals have lots of great info. I have one babe on the way and my dh and I decided not to vax thanks to you!:

My question is about jra. My SIL called the other day and we were talking about her 21 month old son. She's been having problems with him - about 2 months ago he stopped walking. He can crawl, but not walk. They've been to a bunch of doctors and finally a doc told them that it's probably jra. I asked her about his shots, and she said that he had his 18 month shots and about 2 weeks after that the problems started. She also said that they were behind on vaxes and the doctor made them "catch up" for a bunch of them in one day.
I'm trying to research this for her, and I did find that chronic arthritis is a tabled reaction on the Vaccine Injury Compensation site, and I found one study about a possible link between MMR and jra.

I was wondering if any of you would have anymore info handy on this and also any info on how to proceed from now on (they're trying to find a new doc but are having trouble)?

Thank you so much.

Here's a link to the results of a VAERS search for rheumatoid arthritis..

http://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/fin...0&SORTING=NONE

you will probably have to slosh your way through these for any applicable information...she may want to follow up with someone either way (vax issue or not)

Also, here's a link to vaccine package inserts. She may want to look through them to see if rheumatoid arthritis is listed as a side effect, etc.

http://www.vaccinesafety.edu/package_inserts.htm

Here's a link if she needs to file a report (if she believes it's a reaction)

https://secure.vaers.org/VaersDataEntryintro.htm

Lastly, she can look here:

http://answers.hrsa.gov/cgi-bin/hrsa...i=&p_topview=1

since chronic arthritis is a compensable expense through the NVICP (national vaccine injury compensation program)if proven to be injured by a vaccine containing rubella. (just saw you found that...)

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/en...indexed=google

Be aware that there are also studies showing no connection whatsoever.

I am so sorry to read this. There is a very good chance that it's from the vaccine. I did a search in VAERS and came up with this:

http://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/fin...toid+arthritis

I had JRA as a child. It is generally believed to be caused by a virus but the specifics are still considered unknown. When I got it the doctor had my mom cease all live vaccines for me because they did not want to risk a relapse.
JRA can show up in a couple of different ways and it can be difficult to get a diagnosis. My mom said how they finally diagnosed me was by checking my sed rate. She had to take me to about 10 different doctors before I was finally diagnosed in an ER after a 15 hour wait.
I don't know where you are located but I would highly reccomend childrens hospital, this doctor in particular saved my life : http://www.chop.edu/consumer/pat_car...e.jsp?id=73385
I hope that helps you.
