what does that mean?

here is the pattern:

instructions:
Cast on 9 sts.
Rows 1-3: K1, YO, K across to center stitch, K3 in center stitch, K across til 1 loop remains on left needle, YO, k1, turn.
Rows 4-15: K across to center stitch, K3 in center stitch, K across, turn.
Rows 16-18: K2tog, K across to center stitch, K3 in center stitch, K across until 2 loops remain on left needle, K2tog, turn.
Rows 19-21: (K2tog) twice, K across to center stitch, K3 in center stitch, K across til 4 loops remain on left needle, (K2tog) twice, turn.

Finishing:
Loosely bind off remaining stitches
.

looks central to the pattern doesn't it. yet I haven't got a clue

Are you knitting a heart? It probably means knit front loop, knit back loop, knit front loop again. Like kfbf. Make sense? All in that one stitch.

That sounds right . . . Row 1: k1, yo, k3, kfbf, k3, yo, k1; Row 2: k1, yo, k5, kfbf, k5, yo, k1 and so on
hey, what are you knitting? I want to try it just to see how it turns out

I'd also look at changing the direction of the second pair of decreases at the end and replacing k2tog with ssk.
