We welcomed a son at home, in the water, this morning at 1:43 AM! Kai James is 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and 20.5 inches.

I started feeling labor come on last night, but wasn't sure it was "it". My husband put our DD's to bed and we started watching a movie when my contractions started grabbing my attention, and I felt so much lower pressure, especially rectally :

So, I called my midwives. The midwife on call was finishing another birth, so she asked me to lay on my side and try to be as still as I could until she could get there, and she'd come as fast as possible (my midwives are almost an hour away, and I've got a history of fast labor!). I called my mom and sisters who all came, and I stayed laying on the couch for the next hour and a half waiting for my midwives. When they came and checked me, I was already at a 7! And that was from not encouraging labor whatsoever! Unfortunately though, my cervix was very posterior, and so the midwife attempted to move it more centered on the baby's head. I had mild on/off again contractions for another hour and got to an 8, when I asked for my water to be broken so I could stay in the birth pool. They broke my water, I got in the tub, and 19 minutes later I was catching my beautiful baby boy!

He did manage to tear me sideways a bit, so I needed some stitches that weren't very comfortable, but necessary. I'm supposed to stay in bed as much as possible for the next 5 days, and I plan on doing just that!
