Dr. Dan (Rapport) (as known by his patients) is very open to supporting breastfeeding. When my LC (Lyla!) and I were working on a breastpump, he wrote a letter so that I could qualify for a hospital grade pump and have Kaiser cover the cost. I don't get that true "earthy" feeling from him - but, he never contests my vaxing position, or feeding stance. All in all, he is pretty easy going and not an alarmist at all. I believe he is a Ped Gastro specialist at OHSU too.

Our friends recommended him because he is "an old (style) hippie". Hope that helps!

We don't see him, we see Dr. Nicole Hinkley-Hines in Tanasbourne who we are happy with. That would be quite a drive for you.

Well my link wouldn't work, but you can go to kaiserpermanente.org
and search for him under Interstate Medical East. Along with other peds. HTH.

Shayla I totally know what you mean. This has definitely been a struggle for ME having Kaiser insurance. So much that I don't take the kids in unless I absolutely have to.
In my experience, the docs I have seen, when I ask specifics their answers are alway general and "every Kaiser doc is great"... I hope that this isn't upsetting or discouraging, just what I've experienced.
Let me know who you love!

Ok, I'm from Vancouver, Wa and have been lurking on this board for a while. I'll post my intro in awhile but just wanted to reply to this thread. I have had Kaiser for 5 years. Have the same ped -Dr Emily Costa at Cascade Park KP for my kids since my oldest was born almost 5yrs ago. A little over a year ago I became more natural/crunchy in my lifestyle. I started refusing to give vaccs and I'm still breastfeeding my 10 months old. She has encouraged me to keep breastfeeding although I don't know how long before she will say about feeding solids. She did say at DD six month visit that when we came back for DD 9m visit she wanted to make sure DD wasn't losing weight. I just kept b/f her and she was fine. DD is still 90% b/f and still doing great. On the not vax issue, I had asked her questions about safety of vacs one visit, she gave the standard handouts and said that vacs were safe yada yada. (I have researched a little so I know the truth) But the next visit for my ds he was due for some shots and told her I was going to delay them. And I have refused ever since. She hasn't yelled at me, she just accepts that I don't want them even without us having a major dicussion about it. One visit after I said no to them, she said that there were three other mother that had stated that day that they didn't want there DC to have any vaxs either. She accepts the mothers choice. I like her because of that and also she was the one who diagnosed my son's celiacs disease. A regular ped who knew about it concidering all the other peds who thought it was just a rash and stool problems. So all in all I like her. If you have any more questions about her just ask.
