I think it's a really nice name--reminds me of actress Ione Skye (very pretty, delightful persona). I say it's a keeper!

LOVE it! I just hope your last name doesn't start with S, or you'll have KISS. (Unless, of course, Skye is your last name).
Kate is lovely. Iona is the name of a college near here, but that's neither good nor bad, just is. I know someone whose daughter is named Skye - never met her, but her parents are cool, good people.
All together, the name sounds both airy and free and grounded at the same time. Young and mature. It works well.

My first thought was the actress too......

Pretty but I don't generally like associations like that.

Also the actress, and then the Beastie Boys song that mentions her. It jumps out strongly enough in type that I don't really see the Kate part.

Kate is a really cute name for sure though.

I really like Iona, but whenever I've suggested it to my husband he always says "I own a what?"...reckons he's a bit of a comedian!

I like it. Very much.

ETA: Had no idea of the actress or the Beastie Boys connection. Still love it.

First thought, "both are north atlantic islands...a little too thematic" Second thought "isn't there an actress named Ione Skye?" I guess her parents liked the islands too!

Is Iolanthe or the simpler Ianthe something you'd be interested in or is that too much. Kate Iolanthe has some of the same feel without the associations. Both have nice meanings. They are more unusual names but Kate is so down to earth it almost calls for something more exotic in the middle.

I love the name Kate. I like Iona... Not sure about Skye.

is Iolanthe have an E sound on the end or not?
The thing is my dh is so picky about names, his comment on Kate Iona Skye was that it didn't match, the girls names. Yeah b//c well I LOVE different names he likes normal plan names. So even though Iona Kate sounds pretty he would never go for it, even to use it as a middle I am overriding him.

thinking maybe Kate Iona Jolie. I don't know I have a feeling my choice might not be made until this kid is born.

you need to pick the name YOU like, not what other people like. I would never have known about the actress. and it's not likely you're going to tell people her whole name everytime you introduce her anyhow.

also once she starts telling her friends her full name that actress will be so far out of their realm of reality I don't think it will rally matter.

I think I might just go with it , but then I might find another name.

(and I do know they are both islands...off the coast of Scotland from what I read, and well I like Scotland, and that connection.)

also I don't particularly think that having K.I.S.S, as initials will be a bad thing. At least at the moment I can't think of what could be wrong with it, it's not like her initials are H.O.G. or A.S.S., that would be problematic.

I LOVE the middle name Iona--it's my grandmother's middle name and if I have a girl, I will probably use Iona as a middle name too And it has a nice ring to it, all 3 names together.
