I am trying to keep the thermostat turned down a couple extra degrees.. mainly for $$$ reasons.... and I'm doing OK but I'm worried about the baby.

He's only 3.5 months old and will not keep a blanket on. He also does not like hats or mittens. I'm not good at babywearing so we don't do it often, and we don't co-sleep
... I just put him to bed and his room felt so cold to me!

Any suggestions?

Maybe put him in a fleece footed sleeper jammies. If you still think it's still too cold, add socks to his feet before putting him in the jammies.

How about hanging up thick curtain over the windows, if his crib is nowhere near it? Close the curtains most of the time to cut down on drafts coming into the room.

Good luck!

To add to what pp said: Put him in footie jammies that are a size too big. Inside the jammies, dress him in a long sleeved shirt, babylegs, and socks. You could also try a hat, but make sure he's able to pull it off or any from his face if he needs to. Also, if he's rolling over you could put him on a sheepskin (I say wait until he can roll over, so he won't accidentally end up with his face in it and unable to turn away).

But it's possible he's not as cold as you'd think. From the start my little guy has been hot blooded. I have to dress him in a layer or two less than what I wear, or her gets too hot and starts sweating! Only you know how much bundling your baby needs to be comfortable.

Definitely put him in a sleep sack!

We live in an old house (1912!) with extremely high ceilings, so even though we are mindful of the thermostat (gas furnace with forced air), we loose a lot of heat up to the ceilings. Grrr!

Anyway, the sleep sacks by Halo are wonderful. We use the toddler version for our 2.5 year old and the traditional baby version for our 5.5 month old. Work wonderfully!

Definitely a sleep sack, and if it's really cold, you can use two at a time... (But please don't do this unless your baby feels cold to you. Babies can get overheated and it can be damaging.) Our bedrooms are at about 57 at night, and our DS did fine in fleece pjs and a sleep sack. Sometimes I put a light blanket over him from the waist down, but I waited until he was able to remove it easily from his face when he was awake before doing that, I think.

What about Magic Bag? You can heat it and put it babies bed just before he goes down to warm the spot he'll be in and then maybe keep it near his feet after that. My friend bought me a fake version of Magic Bag and I love it!!!!

We had a sleep sack too and it was easy on and off.

You may want to bring babe's crib into your room so it's easier for you to toss the covers back on throughout the night, aslo by being in the same room you can better judge how cold the room is that he's sleeping in, also if you shut off his room you might be able to keep your room slightly warmer without raising the heating bill.

During the day, if your floors are cold then try and keep lots of padding/blankets down where he plays/hangs out.
