Is it possible to use a bottle of "live active" keifer from the HFS to start my own culture? I bought a bottle there yesterday that I really like, great even flavor. It seems it should work like making yogurt,...but maybe I am misunderstanding the process.

I would offer you some, but all mine are in use at the moment, or have been eaten

The powders in the store won't work for making batch after batch, and you can't mke more from the stuff in the store. It is missing some of the bacteria.
