We're on day 6 now. Dd will be 4 in a few weeks, and dh has it bad, too. What can we throw at this?

Dd spent Saturday throwing up every 20 minutes, Sunday sleeping with a high fever, Monday with a mild fever, and hasn't been interested in anything but mama milk since (it's Thursday morning now). She's lost a lot of weight, and is really mellow, but it otherwise in good spirits. She's got explosive newborn poop, and I can't tell if it's just cause of all the milk, or if it's a food reaction or what. She reacted to a bunch of foods through my milk as a babe, but not so much recently. And she's complaining that the poop hurts a lot - she's got a bright red rash.

Dh is starving, but everything goes straight through him. He tried some meds (zofran) last night, but they don't seem to be doing much.

I had it last week, but not nearly this bad. It left me pretty dehydrated and without a lot of milk, though. Ds (8mo) seems fine but dehydrated, constipated and HUNGRY. He hasn't clearly had it unless it's the same tummy bug he got 3 weeks ago.

So what can I throw at this thing for them? Herbs? Clay? Vitamins? Baths? Massages? Homeopathics? Probiotics? Cut out potentially reactive foods (I'm already on a pretty limited diet, but could cut out some stuff that I suspected in the past and am eating now).

water kefir and coconut water, or coconut water kefir with a pinch of sea salt. Epsom salt baths.

Fennel and ginger will help too. Even rosemary if that is all you have.

Rub abdomen clock-wise with diluted lavender essential oil.

Nux vomica and other homeopathics. But, homeopathic arsenicum album works like magic, especially when vomiting is combined with diarrhea.

Ok, I've got probiotics and clay, working on actually getting them into those two. Dd just sat down on a wooden chair and complained that she's too bony :( So now she's motivated to eat the clay/probiotic applesauce.

She's only throwing up once or twice a day, seeming from an overactive gag reflex. Do I still want to look at vomiting remedies? Her main symptoms right now are the bum rash and lack of appetite. I'm having trouble separating diarrhea from milk poop, it's hard to say what's going on there.

Dh is doing a bit better this morning on his own.

I went and looked at greenmedinfo and put together this list for diarrhea:

Probiotics
Zinc
Guava
Green Banana
Black Tea
Ginger
Resistant starch

Got kefir? That alone will probably do. Lactobacillus has been shown to help diarrhea.

One tablespoon of kefir will probably do the trick.

Okay, we've got progress with dh. Any remedies now for painful gas?

And I found nux vomica and arsenicum. Dd is pukey if she eats anything but milk, though she's interested in food. I think she's holding down plain white rice. I've never done homeopathics with her. Which do I choose, where do I start, what do I watch for?

Ds is not getting sick again. I won't let him!

If nausea without diarrhea, I'd go with nux vomica. If vomiting and diarrhea, I'd do arsenicum album. Just one dose unless vomiting continues, then can repeat.

Pepto Bismaul helps gas when it is killer gas. But, otherwise, I'd do a little bit of coconut water or kefir and rub the abdomen clockwise. Epsom salt or magnesium will help relax the gut too.

Thanks

Sounds like dh is doing better - now to rebuild his gut lining. I'm thinking slippery elm.

Dd actually ate some food, I think cause dh promised her pumpkin pie and got some powdered probiotics and some sauerkraut. I really hope she eats more tomorrow. She's skinny!

yup, arsenicum is what's helping with the pukey bug going around. I also do clay. Painful gas can be carbo veg, colocynthis etc.

I agree 100% about the epsom salt soak as well-I also use bioplasma to aid in recovery. A big yes on the kefir and ferments too.

I also never pass up an opportunity for the castor oil pack after a stomach bug!

Cool to come across this now.

Last night DS1 started throwing up. As i ran to the bathroom to help him, I thought nux vom, but once we got him into bed, I decided on Arsenicum. He burned through 4 or 5 doses. I accidentally woke him up for the 6th. He slept through the night and has mostly been doing well. he would benefit from a couple more doses.

We seem to be getting illnesses left and right. I suspect not recovering from the last. I see that bioplasma would be a good option. isn't there another cell salt to help rebuild stores
