Just wondering if anyone has any good info about kidney stones.
I am 9 weeks pregnant and had a kidney stone this week.
I found a page from the mayo clinic about prevention but I don't do the things they say to avoid anyways.
I was also told when they did the ultrasound of my kidney that there are spots there which could quite possibly be more kidney stones

I just read "The Magnesium Miracle" and it said there was a connection between magnesium deficiency and kidney stones. I'd never heard of that before, but maybe it bears looking into....

Bumping this to see if I can get any more info about kidney stones. I'm 90% sure I passed one yesterday after two bouts of extremely intense pain about 15 hours apart.
This was the same pain on my right side near the small of my waist that I experienced 2 years ago when I was pregnant. Except that time it lasted about 24 hours straight (pure hell I tell you), and I went to the hospital because I had no idea what was going on. I spent the day there and was sent home with a "We have no idea what's wrong with you, sorry!".
I never saw a stone, but wasn't looking for one.
Yesterday I found a small stone, about the size of a grain of rice. The UTI symptoms I was also experiencing went away immediately after I passed the stone.
I eat completely differently than I did 2 years ago, mostly TF: raw milk, pastured eggs, lots of bone broth soups, meat and veggies. I've pretty much cut out all grains and sugar except for occasionally brown rice, barley, oatmeal. I also take Concentrace daily.

Am I getting too many minerals somehow? Ugh, can't find a connection between the last episode and this one.
This seems to be a mystery to medical community as my mad googling hasn't turned up much. Conventional doctors seem to just throw antibiotics at it even when it's chronic.
Maybe one of you wise ladies knows whats up?

My sister had kidney stones without any of the risk factors and it turned out she had parathyroid disease. It's relatively rare but because of that it takes a really long time for people to get diagnosed and if you have it in pregnancy (she did) it's important to get it treated for you and the baby. So have your calcium level and PTH checked. Calcium should be in the 9's or lower. If it is I believe that rules out parathyroid. You do want to rule it out (you likely will...especialy if stones are your only symptom).

The second major mistake regarding calcium levels is that doctors think that having calcium levels in the "low 10's" is normal since it says so on the lab slip (ALL lab reports come with a "normal range" printed right next to the result). The fact is, it is normal to OCCASIONALLY have calcium levels in the low 10's (the yellow area on the graph above). Most humans do not like having calcium levels in the 10's. Almost ALL humans feel best with a calcium level somewhere in the 9's.

Oh, symptoms: http://parathyroid.com/parathyroid-symptoms.htm This site has lots of information about parathyroid, stones, calcium levels, etc. Basically this site will tell you to check calcium levels and make sure they are under 10. If they aren't you have to think parathyroid.

I would seriously reevaluate my diet and get rid of everything that isn't organic, get rid of artificial foods...out out out... sugar out... except for a nice tall glass of cranberry juice and eat alot of raw garlic... but that is me.. i would research my diet right down to the last crumb.. and water..lots of water... i have gotten ride of kidney stones by altering my diet, i have passed gallstones... that's is right.. i passed my gallstones...GONE no surgery...

I have a doctor that has all kinds of alternatives in his office... i do not take pharmecuticals...it's all diet and herbs... i find homeopathy is not as effective because there are few remedies i have worked with and most time it has only been good for my minor ailments.

there was a time i though nothing about eating a big mac or just conventional foods...until it started... heart burn kidney stones panic attacks gallstones..etc etc... pharmecuticals always caused nasty cycles of infections of either yeast or lymph nodes or intestinal... was a nightmare... I cannot explain my awe and shock at how well diet and herbs work... if you told me this 10 years ago i would have laughed in your face and told you to go and [email protected]$$#% <---i'm not allowed to say that... but I would start by finding a book on nutritional healing... research.....it's fascinating to really feel the difference... good luck

I've heard how painful it can be, but I always thought the pain was in the urethra area?

I was having very mild UTI symptoms for a couple days (slight tingling in urethra, felt like I had to pee a lot more often), and then all of a sudden I felt like I had a stomach ache. This escalated to EXTREME pain on my right side, front and back, just under my ribs. On par or worse than labor pain I'd say. It was like a squeezing, crushing, relentless, hard to breathe kind of pain. It started to subside when I got in a hot bath though.
