I am preparing to facilitate a class on "using chidren's stories to talk about life lessons." The audience will be parents of kiddo's age 2-10ish. I am interested in hearing about your favorite childrens books for subjects such as anger, death, self esteem, perserverence...etc.

I have a list I am hoping to expand and give to the parents attending. A couple of my favorites are:

Mean Soup, by Everitt
The Paper-bag Princess, by Munsch
The Little Prince, by Saint-Exupery
Harold's Purple Crayon & The carrot seed

Thanks for your help

My kids love the Alexander stories by Judith Viorst--Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day; Alexander, Who's Not (Do you hear me? I mean it!) Going to Move; I'll Fix Anthony. They also enjoy David Shannon's A Bad Case of Stripes . For the older kids (6-10, I think--it's a long picture book) there's The Black Snowman by Phil Mendez.

What a great idea for a class!

Thanks for your response. I am going to the library today, so I'll take a look at those (I am familiar with Viorst, terrible no good day). I thought it would be a fun, light class and would also be useful for those times when we all need a good story.

keep sending more...I'd love to hear especially about those life changing children's books (for me it was The
Little Prince in 7th grade).
