Forgive me if this is a repeat. I think I deleted my last post.

My son is 3. He is scheduled for 4 crowns on the four top front teeth, with possible root canal. Three dentist have told me he has soft enamal that probably happened in Utero. (Well, I was the picture of health while Pregnant.) WE are super healthy, my son had sugar 2 times before age two and not much after. Perhaps to many potatoe chips with out brushing...

Anyways, he will get the work done with tylenol and motrin (plus momma will add RR and camomile.) Myself or his dad will be in the room. I am so nervous.

OK Killing bacteria: Floride Kills it, Right?
High PH or alkaline kills it, Right? (Because they need an acidic enviroment to live in.)
My dentist and others say aged cheddar and swiss cheese do damage.
So how else can you change the mouth enviroment to make it unhospitable to s. Mutans???

Whatt about the"alkaline diet'?
Any ideas on where to start research on all this??

Thanks to smilemomma and mammalamma and others who work so hard to help all us other momma's stay sane.

Thanks Malamamama!!!

My son will be getting all four done at once!! The dentist says he may need root canal and will decide and act in the moment.

You say eating Tannins are good. What is a tannin? YOu also mention whole Grains. Well if grains are carbs, don't they turn to sugar when they are stuck between they teeth???

I wonder if eating any alkaline foods, such as cheese or seaweed or figs or cultured dairy products will do the trick as well??

I think Smilemomma said that flouride does not work in the pits and fissures, so shoulds I only apply the flouride to the smooth teeth?? We have never used flouride and are now considering it.(We also never used to floss and now we do at least one time a day.)

Brushing after eating?? I just read, some where else it is best not to brush right after eating because the enamal is weakend by the acids...??? But I would think you quickly want to remove the sugat and acid. I wonder how long to wait??? Maybe not brush but rinse with water and then eat an alkalizing food, i.e. cheese, nuts. Then brush later???

Lots of questions...

Thanks Gain to you and any one aout there with info and ideas.
