So I had my m/w appointment yesterday and when she did my urine dip my Leukocytes came back high. I had been feeling kinda crummy and all three of my kids have been sick so we decided not to worry too much about it and just monitor it next visit. Well she also did some blood work as well to check anemia and STDs (by law). Anyway she just called me and said I'm moderately anemic, whatever that means. She sent me a whole list of supplements she wants me to start taking to help with the anemia and in case something else is going on with the leukocytes. I know neither is that big of a thing and I'm sure once I start the supplements it will be fine since I've never had a problem in pregnancy before but I feel kinda guilty. We are normally very good eaters as a family. Lots of fresh veggies, mostly organic, I make as much from scratch as possible, you get the idea. And since I became pregnant I have been so ill that we have been do more ready made meals or even (gasp) picking up fast food for dinner because I can't manage to cook anything much less a meal that take an hour or more. My 18 month old is in disposable diapers right now because the thought of having to wash his cloth ones is more than I can manage. I feel like our crummy eating is the reason for the test results and that I have let our beliefs about being a more natural family slip right out the door the past few weeks. Unfortunately my DH is working 80 hours a week right now so he really can't help more than he is so I'm kinda on my own here with it all. Guess I just needed to vent a little.

Popping in from April DDC. Hey, I can completely relate. We are normally very healthy eaters, but the first 3-4 months of my pregnancy, I just couldn't manage to eat, not to mention to cool much healthy stuff. Hang in there! Once I hit 4th month, it started getting better, and now I'm back to eating and cooking healthy again. Just do the best you can for now, keeping lots of semi-healthy quick foods on hand. It gets better from here

You definitely are not alone. Although my mommy-guilt is due to not exercising and letting my toddler watch TV in the evening so I can take a nap.

My energy is starting to come back, though, so I know I will change this very soon. But I know it isn't going to be easy because DD now loves to watch Wonder Pets in the evening! *sigh*

You are not alone. Please don't feel guilty.

I'm baffled by how poorly I've been eating for the past few months. I mean well, I do, and I've mostly been making good choices, but there's definitely been some orange soda and gingerale-with-hfcs and fast food and gratuitous candy in there, which is something that I completely managed to avoid last (unsuccessful) pregnancy. Somehow in the process I've managed to lose 23 lbs, which wasn't intentional. We eat what we can stomach and pregnancy can be rough. Hopefully the supplements will help you even out soon.

You will get back to your healthy eating in time. Just go with the flow right now and do what you can.

This was definitely me about 3 weeks ago. From 6 weeks to 13 weeks, I cooked exactly 3 meals (that is, meals that involved more than opening a can or poking holes in plastic overwrap). And two of them were in week 13.

No wonky tests results (yet), but I managed to put on 8 pounds in a month and our food bill was about double what it usually is (DH is gluten-free and dairy-free, which means prepackaged food for him is EXPENSIVE).

I'm back on the wagon for the most part -- not feeling nauseous and being able to stay vertical past about 6pm has helped a lot . Hang in there, it will get better.

Hey klocke,

This is my first post ever, and I just wanted to say that I have had leukocytes in my urine at every visit (3 over the last 3 months). I did not suffer too badly with sickness and have been able to keep up a healthy diet - so maybe diet has little to do with leukocytes... all this to say, I don't think you should worry about it (but what do I know, I'm no expert!)
