Hmmm... I am taking a deep breath now -- okay. So about 17 months ago, I got the hives -- bad. From head to toe, although it started at my chest & disappeared there as it was appearing elsewhere...all told it lasted about 5 days.

Three days in, I went to the Doctor & she gave me Claritin. I had to argue with the woman, because I said I might have conceived within the last few days & she wanted to give me something stronger (she said -- naaa, I doubt you are -- you've only been off b.c. 4 months).
: They also took blood to see if I was preggo. When they got the results back 2 weeks later it was negative -- at the time I was 1 week late & holding an ept test that said positive -- whatever doc!!

So we proceeded (happily
) through the pregnancy & have a beautiful 8 month old boy who is about to cut his third tooth & trying to learn to crawl.

In the last couple weeks, my food tastes/appetite have pretty much returned back to my pre-pregnancy/nursing norm -- although we're still nursing almost exclusively, and I've had the return of my monthly visitor -- although not
as you'd expect (she's still MIA). I have had at least minor UTI's almost monthly for years, but they disappeared while I was preggo & I had thought they were gone for good. Not so -- I had a nasty one that cranberry extract pills didn't get rid of a couple weeks ago so I ended up on Macrobid (yuck). Oh well, though -- life goes on, ya' know?

Here's the thing though -- I was kinda expecting to get
back in the next month or so, since it looks like my body is "returning to normal." Instead, guess what I got -- yup -- HIVES.

Now, I'm taking a deep breath and begging you all to tell me that this sounds as if my body is giving it's final sign that it's back to it's pre-pregnancy norm. And I'd love it if someone else had ever experienced this!! Well -- not that I want others to have hives, but -- well -- you know what I mean!

What I don't want to hear (because I might have to start hyperventilating) is that I am
again -- since we didn't plan to start trying again for AT LEAST another 4 months -- and my dh might end up being "forced" into being on the road 5 days a week for his job soon!
Plus he started developing a nervous twitch when he saw my hives & threatened to kick *himself* in the stones if I was. :LOL

Okay -- if you've made it this far -- thanks for listening to a slightly freaked mamma (who is already sleep deprived) ramble -- now tell me I'm worrying about nothing please!

It could be that you are allergic to something you ate or took internally. Pregnancy will often cause you to create new allerigies to things you were not allergic to before for some reason.

I got a bad full body rash when pg twice (later got PUPPS but this was different). During both times I was sick with a cold and took Robitussin, something I've been taking since childhood when sick. About a year later I got sick again and took Robitussin and again broke out in the rash. So I think it was the Robitussin but didn't put 2 and 2 together until the third time I took the medicine.

Hope you find what's bothering you!

I did have TERRIBLE hives while pregnant, I tried everything and I even ended in the ER once. They started when I was 36 weeks pregnant. It dispeared 3 weeks after I had my dd. Sadly one month later it appeared again just that this time it was more focalized and I noticed that the cloth detergent was doing this to me, so I just changed it for a non allergic one. I know that the first time it wasn't just the detergent because I tried everything, even the Benadryl didn't work. My suggestion would be to "attack" your liver with lots of natural remedies because for sure this comes from there, Aveno baths also worked.
Good luck and I really hope you can get rid of it.... it's horrible

Congrats on the pregnancy
in case you are

I actually thought it was spray n wash last time (for a while), cause I had been sensitive to liquid fabric softener before -- but I hadn't had hives -- I'd just been really itchy. I also wondered about this fancy chocolate bar I'd had in the last day or so -- but I had never ever shown any inclination towards milk/chocolate allergies -- and believe me, I've tested that!

The only thing I can think of, is the Macrobid. I wouldn't be surprised if I'd had that a week or so before I got preggo last time. Does that make sense though? To have a reaction to a medication a week after I'm finished with it? Hmmm... I may have to go & try to look up some info. on that!

Eggie (such a cute name
), what do you suggest for natural remedies? I am NOT looking forward to 4-5 days of itchiness with a teething baby who's fussy himself! :LOL And thanks for the congrats.
If I am I'll be pretty excited (after I wake up from the dead faint!! :LOL).

Well, I'm not a herb expert but I just found out that the artichoke tea is very good for the liver, maybe you can try it instead of water during the hives. When I had the hives I took some Mexican drops called Yarabi that a friend sent me. I've tried to look for a link for you but couldn't find it, sorry
and the container doesn't says what are the ingredients. Hope you feel better soon.

Ive had hives off and on all my life. What brings them on for me is the cold. Sometimes Id go years w/o breaking out.
During pregnancy I didnt get them.....now they are back. Ive tried herbal rememdies, but nothing works but taking claritan. I cant take that, bc Im still nursing.

GOOD LUCK, I hope you find out something!
