I only have one set of dishes, freed myself of a lot of ownership of things recently, freed resources for focus on friendships, experiences, independence. After 30 years of parenting and marriage no one in my life has ever expressed that dishes were meaningful to them
We do dishes 3+ times a day. We only keep just enough dishes for us. I don't do fancy china. I recently had to get new dishes and got Corelle winter white. Lightweight, thin and easy to store, made in USA (we don't have their mugs.) I gave up keeping extra dishes years ago. All that does is allow us to skip doing dishes until it's out of control. If we aren't going to skip doing dishes after every meal then why have extras? So we now keep one set per person plus low count on any other kitchen items.
