kindergarten testing?

Hey, i'm new here to this site and to this state. My oldest is in Kindergarten and they said (the school) they are going to be testing this week to see if the boys born in the months of March-August are mature enough to go onto the first grade. I believe it was called a MAT test. Does anyone have any information on this test?
