one gallon-size ziplock bag and 60+ minutes later, I've discovered I *can* read my Kindle in the tub. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> No harm done.<br><br>
I also did not drop it! So much easier reading from my light-weight Kindle than a heavy book.

Oooh, that's a good idea! I have the birth tub (portable hot tub) set up at a low/comfortable temp in the family room right now but haven't been comfortable enough to try to read my Kindle in there yet. (This is Kindle #2, so I don't want anything to happen to it. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="innocent"> )

reading while bathing has been my hold out. Mu husband wanted to buy me one a while back. Doesn't it get expensive though? Or can you get library books on it?

The CEO of Amazon said in a NY Times interview last fall that even HE does the gallon ziplock to read in the tub.<br><br>
Neetling, no, you cannot do eBooks from the library on Kindle (maybe on some of the other eReaders). I read a lot of classics that are free or very low cost ($5 for all of Dickens, for example, better formatted than the $1 version). Money isn't an issue for me. I'd buy a lot of books, anyway. Just don't have the book "clutter" now. See, I'm a minimalist. I have very few books now, just ones that I need that aren't on Kindle, mainly a few spiritual or reference works.<br><br>
I'm also on the go a lot and it's wonderful just having my Kindle in its case in my bag, and not hauling around books!

Ohhh....reading in the tub has been my major reason for holding out on e-readers. I still don't have the money, and the idea of kissing my paperback collection goodbye makes me want to cry, but...that sounds good...really, really good.<br><br>
I think I may put a reader in our budget for 2011. It's not going to happen this year.

I don't have an ereader, but I've thought of trying the gallon bag trick for shower photos. (I'm a photographer, and not some strange person who take pics of random people in the shower <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">) I'd love to do a "Psycho" type shoot sometime.
