So I just got my first order of cd supplies.
I am excited! After looking at different styles and reading about it all, I am thinking that fitteds and covers are probably for us - I love the kissaluvs I got in the mail (Size 0 and 1) - they are so soft and cozy and seem to have a good, snug fit. I'm looking for feedback from those of you who use fitteds and covers.

Do you like Kissaluvs? Why/why not?

Favorite covers? What makes them your faves?

Other advice?

Many thanks!!

We used kissaluvs when we first started CDing. My daughter had the sort of build that she got longer instead of gaining weight all the way around so the size 2s were humongous and the size 1s had a rise that was too short as she got older. (They were a great fit in the beginning.) The only things I didn't like about them were that the after a while the elastic didn't seem as snug, and overall I didn't find them that absorbant. If I used a doubler they were fine, but I rarely used them overnight when she got a little bit older because they were just soaked.

Inititally we used Litewraps, which were a nice workhorse-esque cover, however they didn't hold up as well after many months of use. They didn't leak or anything, but the backing on the velcro strip across the front came apart and the covers themselves yellowed (especially anywhere poo had gotten on the cover.) Besides how they looked though, they never leaked for us. The only other thing was that when the rise was getting too short she would frequently get velcro burn where the top of the cover would rub her belly.

I also was happy with the Motherease covers, and if I hadn't started making most of her diapers I probably would have ended up using those and wool soakers. HTH!

I like our size 1 Kissaluv's although ds has slimmed down just enough in the waist with mobility that they are actually a little loose. Yea, they aren't the most absorbant, but they are soft and squishy and I just make sure to check him frequently when he wears one. But, overall I like them.

As for covers, we are a wool family ... sugarpeas, kiwi pie, stacinators (lower rise than the other two), soakers and bum sweaters.

These are nice diapers but they are very slow to dry and they have, IMO, a very limited size range relative to many other WHAM diapers.

Compared to other WHAM M and L diapers that I've tried KL are very wide in the waist and short in the rise.

I have only ever tried one kissaluvs diaper ...not my favorite ...not absorbant enough and for the amount of absorbancy takes WAY too long to dry. The fit of the size 2 is fine on my 2 1/2 year old dd and I really do like how soft they are.

We used Kissaluv 0s as the main part of our stash when DD was a newborn. She wore them until she was about three and a half months, I think. They are the most absorbant, but they *are* cute - see? ! And for a newborn, you're changing them so much anyway that I never found the lask of absorbancy to be a big issue.

As for covers, I used mostly Bummis NB and small with the Kissaluvs. We have a few Kissaluvs 1s now, and wear either an Aristocrat or Bummis with it.

Enjoy your new stash!

Thanks!! For those of you who do not love the kissaluvs - what do you like better? Sounds like absorbancy is an issue - what have you found to be more absorbant, but still soft and cozy (and cute
)

Unless our baby breaks the mold, he/she may be long and lean rather than chunkier -- although you never know - I was long and lean and my brother, a few years later, was HUGE! But dd is a tall, lean build and has been long since birth. Sounds like those with chunkier babies find KLs to fit well - what about those with thinner babes?

thanks again!

There is a diaper called MJs that is a lot like Kissaluvs...very soft and cute, but I found them to be a bit more absorbant. I think they're also a bit cheaper than Kissaluvs. I had about a dozen of each in the NB size.

If I was diapering a NB again, I would still use my stash of Kissaluvs and MJs, as well as Bumperbottoms, Crystal's Cloth and Sugarpeas -- they all have a high cuteness factor and are much more absorbant.

We liked our Kissaluvs when Jenna was first born. She is a super soaker, so they wouldn't stay on her long, but she was 4 pounds 13 ounces, so Kissaluvs were really the only dipe I felt comfortable having her in. I had her in infant pfs, but they were WAY too big on her, and I ordered some preemie pfs, but with the pee factor, those were a joke. So we really liked them. And their resale value.... great!

Fave covers during that time: we used proraps. I didn't care for them, really. I like the NB size, which Jenna was able to be in for a couple of weeks. You know what ones I liked, and not a lot of people do? Dappis. I bought six off of Ebay. Liked them a lot.

We use Kisslauvs and love them. I always use a doubler when we go to town and overnight, and we use soakers then as well. At home, Ben goes coverless and I change him as soon as I see he is wet. We love the fit. He has a buddah belly and they're the trimmest diapers on him because they ride below his belly instead of ending up there with a big bulge of extra fabric that was supposed to reach up to his waist. I love the simplicity of one diaper without external soakers to have to match up or put in place correctly. Yes, they take longer to dry, but we line-dry so who cares? At one point I thought he was a heavy wetter, but since we go coverless, I've learned that he is a frequent wetter. We use at least a dozen diapers a day which means we change pretty often. For our purposes, the absorbency is just fine.
