Anyone out there been using one of the new KK sippy bottles with spout? I want to order one for DS, but thought I'd see if any of you have experience with them. Also, do you need to order the adapter and the sippy top?

We have the Klean Kanteen with the sports bottle top. My dd is 15 months now, but has been able to use that type of top for at least 5 months or so. She often gets too much water, though, and chokes some.

The other downside is that it does not have a valve, so when dd drops it on the floor, or walks around holding it upside down, water leaks out.

For those two reasons, I decided to order the sippy top adapter, which should be here any day now (it was not available when I originally ordered the Klean Kanteen).

I like that it's stainless steel, and although the Siggs are positively adorable from a design standpoint, and testing proves the coating doesn't leach, I still felt better about going with the ss over aluminum.

We got ds a KK with sport top when he was 9 mos old & it's been great. No complaints at all...

Mine just arrived. I don't know what to do with it! I don't see HOW the Avent sippy top is supposed to stay on it. I think they may have forgotten a part? I need to call customer service.

I just gave our to the little girl I am watching (ds doesn't use yet) and she really likes it and was drinking lots of water. At first I thought it was kinda big but she handles it just fine (16 mo.) I give it
I got one as a gift for a friend as well.

It arrived this afternoon, so I popped it in and handed it to dd. At first she was a little puzzled, since she's used to the sports cap (although she has used other "normal" sippy cups), but she figured it out pretty quick.

It does not leak, although I had to push really hard to get the "sippy" part to fit into the adapter. I tried drinking out of it myself, and it was a little weird, like I couldn't smoothly coordinate the suck-swallow thing. I'm kind of thinking this is due to how the valve works, and maybe all sippies are like that?

Anyway, dd did just fine with it, and I'm thrilled with the purchase, because now I can let her wander around and have total control over her water intake, without having to worry about it making a mess. It also helps that she finally figured out that she has to tip it UP to get water out of it (that issue was confused by using a Nuby (straw) for a while).

The adapter should look like this, with three pieces:

Sippy spout (which is green, not white as shown in picture)
Black "cap" that sippy spout snaps into (as shown in picture)
Black threaded part (shown on the right in the picture) that screws into KK on one end, and sippy spout/black cap screws on to the other

HTH!

i bought one to give to my ds as a holiday present. so i have it, but haven't used it yet. it's about exactly what i thought it would be though, except that i didn't know the actual sippy spout was made by another company (avent), which threw me a bit (and is the spout leach-free? i don't know).

Just wanted to come back and say I've decided I DON'T like the sippy adapter afterall. DD has a really hard time drinking from it when the valve is in place. When I remove the valve it's no problem, but then water runs all over the place when it isn't upright, so it defeats the whole purpose.

That said, I poked around on Avent's site just now, to see if they had a different spout we could try, and our spout looks different from what they show on their site.

If you look at the enlarged picture, the valve they show (the clear plastic part on the bottom) is different. In fact, the whole bottom of the sippy spout is different. So I'm wondering if they've redesigned this, and maybe we got an "old" design from reusable bags (the site I ordered it from). The next time I'm out running errands, I'm going to stop into a drug store and look at the Avent spouts and see what they look like. I really hope I can get a different one that works better. The one we have is very hard to drink from.

Hmmm, that looks like what we received from reusablebags...how is yours different?

On mine, there is no raised rim around the outside of the bottom of the green part. So the clear part sits flush on the bottom of the spout, whereas on the Avent website it shows it recessed within that raised rim. In addition, if you look at the picture I linked to, in the middle of the clear part, there's an "x". On mine, there is actually a hole there, and you push this over a piece of the green part, so it protrudes through. Looking at the picture again, looking through the clear part, it looks like there are 4 holes in the green spout. Mine only has one.

Please do let me know if this sounds different from yours, as that would give me hope that there's a better one out there. Still annoyed that I have to buy even MORE stuff to make this work (the sippy adapter wasn't available when I bought the kk originally, so I had to order it separately).

Oh darn...I'm on a better resolution monitor now and I do see the ridge you're mentioning. I do NOT have that ridge on mine. I think I have the same one as you. Sorry!
