Knit Along's?

Here on MDC? I don't know of any going on right now but this weekend, Sarah and I are going to post some ideas for activities for MDC Knits to do, including some knitalongs. Stay tuned!

I recently joined an e mail list off yahoo called EZasPi- it's based off Elizabeth Zimmerman knitting mostly the Pi shawl from the knitter's almanac. Anyway they are getting revving up to do some big mystery shawl thing. The listowner was just saying today that they are close to 1000 members and were really excited about breaking that milestone- so if you join- you could wind up hearing a lot of bells and whistles if you are #1000

Oh. Ours would be in the blog world, too, since MDC knits is a blog ring. But elsewhere in the world there are tons of knitalongs. Just do a search for a pattern you like with the word knitalong.

In general, I think you'll find that the most KALs are related to popular patterns from online magazines like Knitty and Magnits or books like Stitch n Bitch, last minute knitted gifts, weekend knitting, etc. I'm part of a KAL for the Irish Hiking Scarf from Helloyarn.com and I've also seen people in KALs for charities.

Do a google.com search for "knitalong" and you'll find things like this list of links to 2005 knitalongs

When I'm looking for kals, I visit blogs and check to see if there's kals posted to the side.
I'm knitting lace alot lately so I just joined a few kal on yahoo.
There's an evelyn clark one, a folk shawl one, and sivia harding has a kal of her designs on yahoo. If you can't find them and are interested I'll get the links posted here for you.
