I *just* got the bug. Kind of. I went and picked some yarn out of my stash. I'm getting excited about newborn kimono sweaters (started one). And I'm planning lots of little practical socks and hats. Three friends of mine are due in winter and spring so I'm planning some gifts too.<br><br>
I'm not ready to start anything serious or even buy yarn yet. Just getting some little things started. Waiting to learn the gender for that.<br><br>

Well, my SIL is due in two weeks, so I've been knitting for her. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
A good friend of mine is due early Feb, so I've started knitting hats & socks & mittens for her, and just made another set for ours. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

don't think I'll be able to get to baby knitting for at least a couple more months. I'm in the misdst of knitting my knitting bag, and I'm a slow knitter. But I hope to at least knit some wool diaper covers, and maybe a couple of sweaters.

Seeing as how the height of my knitting is knitting scarves, I don't think I'll be doing any knitting for the little one. However, I am starting to look at cross stitch patterns

Hmm.. Indispensable for a first baby? Are you in a four-seasons-experiencing area? If so, I'd do a hat or two, (I like ones that have shaping or flaps for the ears), thumbless mittens, baby socks or booties... Maybe some babylegs-type leg warmers... And wool diaper covers, if you're doing cloth. I also like to knit a "special" item, like longies/pants or a cardigan or something. My other two were born in spring/early summer so I'm relishing the idea of snuggly baby knitting this time. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"> My MIL does the hand-knit blanket thing for each of her grandbabies, so that's spoken for, otherwise, I'd knit up a special "blankie" for the baby, too. (I'm an obsessive, quick knitter, and like I said, I've already done our baby's hat & mittens, working on the socks... lol)

I've got lots of stuff planned, but I'm holding off until I know what the gender of this baby is. So in the meantime, I've entertained myself knitting DD a hat and legwarmers, and now DSS has requested a hat and I bought myself some very pretty sock yarn <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> Plus I'd like to make DH a sock monkey and DD a cardigan for Christmas, so I've got enough to hold me over until I can start on the new baby cuteness!

On a completely unrelated to thread note...the nickname our family has for the new one is Menah Menah. My DS will just start singing the song to my belly or just out loud for the heck of it when we talk about the new baby coming.

I knit a bunch when we were trying and when i was in early pregnancy, but around 7 weeks when the morning sickness started, knitting started making me queasy. It still does, so I'm hoping that ends soon and I can get back to soakers and stuff.

We did sort of lose out knitting thread! I bought yarn for a sweater and have some coming for botties and a hat. I thought this was so weird... but the same thing happened to me. I would get all kind of dizzy or something. I spent a long time looking at patterns on Ravelry yesterday and knitted my first baby hat since I've gotten pregnant. I'm really looking forward to picking out yarn and a pattern with my husband (even though we're currently disagreeing on pattern and colors) for a baby blanket.<br><br>
