I'm making my mom an easy poncho, with limited time, & a huge family Im doing it mellow with big needles. I just realized that this pattern:
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATTponcho.html
calls for circular needles, when I orginally speed read the top part, I thought it was straight needles.

How is this going to work on circulars though, Im imagining a big long tube, and orginally I thought it would be like a blanket, that I just seam one side up. What do you think?

I also dont quite picture how you work with two yarns at a time, you work 30 stitches MC, and 20 CC color for 60" in length. I'm just not picturing this at all.

The pattern calls for circular needles probably because the designer felt straight needles simply wouldn't have enough room for all the stitches. Knitting it on circular needles, at the end of each row you would turn the needles just as you do with straight needles rather than knitting in rounds.

As far as two yarns, you'll use two separate balls and everytime you get to the color transition you twist one yarn around the other which ensures that you knit one piece of fabric not two with no holes in the fabric.
