Or, does anyone know a particular website or something where I might look up the answer to this question (that follows at the end LOL)?
DS has ITP. At least for now; it's been about a year though and as time goes by with no change, the hematologist was considering changing the diagnosis to CTP. But we're taking a wait-and-see approach. I can't even remember when we're due back to see the hematologist.
So anyway, we're supposed to get his platelets checked every three months. Last week, and again this week, he had blood drawn that the lab said was clumping. The first time, the message came back that it had clotted (we assumed the nurses hadn't put enough chemicals or whatever into it). This time, the message came back that it had clumped - and specifically not clotted - something to do with fibrous strands or something. I find myself wondering whether this is indicative of anything (he also happens to be heterozygous FVL). So that's my question - does the clumping mean anything?
I'm a little freaked out that he still occasionally complains of leg pain (along the front of his shins) though I have been working on the assumption that it's growing pains. I think I'll mention it to the ped again. The hematologist already ruled out the most obvious forms of CTP, as far as I know... I kinda think that I'd like to have the sample drawn at children's hospital this time so it can be analzyed right away (the last two were at the ped's office, late afternoon, etc. so I don't know when they finally got to the lab).
I just have no idea where to look this sort of thing up... thanks for any thoughts anyone might have!!
