I have a healthy, healthy 10 wk old ds (in 90% for height and weight) who *probably* has laryngomalacia (floppy epiglottis), based on the stridorous sound he makes when nursing or upset, or sometimes just breathing. He's just a noisy breather. Ped is not concerned and doesn't even want to refer us to a specialist (and I agree, but that's why we don't know for sure if it is laryngomalacia) but he does have me freaked out about the cold and flu season AND vaccines. Anyone here who could talk with me more about this condition and how truly risky it is in an otherwise healthy child? (FYI: we typically do not vax, but are considering Hib and DTaP bc we worry about his ability to handle any further swelling in his airway. Croup would also be scary, but no vax for that one, obviously.)
I know there's someone out there who knows all about this . . .
