When we had our UC in 3.05, it was no problem, but now, every site I find that offers Doppler rental insists on Doc verification, etc. they want a phone # fax # and a name.

ugh.

Can anyone share their location of rental - or know a midwife willing to "vouch"/give an order for it ?

Thanks ladies!

Try http://www.heartbeatsathome.com/
I'm pretty sure you can get one there without an Rx.

I ran into the same issue over the weekend. I had no idea you had to have Dr Approval to get one. I wanted one for labor just in case I wanted it. I am thinking I will just stick with the fetoscope.

I am eyeing a few on eBay at the moment. 75-150 right now, for the digital display type. I plan on having at least one more baby, as well as plan on attending midwifery school/being a midwife after...so it would be worth for a starter. I however, would prefer to rent one - so I can get it now! Eh. Like I said - no problem doing it 2 years ago- but now.... I don't know if they passed more laws or something... ?...

Fetoscope sounds great in theory...but for me - I know how much I tend to stay hands and knees while in labor as well as when I am in transition...so - I can't really see my hubby trying to get underneath me AND find a tone in that position..

Alright- here goes. I am going to attempt it - as we are in Louisville KY, and I don't know any Docs here...

Will let you know what happens.

This is where rented from before - I just could not remember the name and the site looks different.

Hope you don't mind me straying a bit...

What's the story on those Bebe Sounds monitors? Anyone use one, or know more about them? I am assuming they are a low quality doppler, or maybe some sort of electronic fetascope.

I would have to guess it's an electric microphone. It had a lot of feedback/typical microphone sounds when it was turned on. I bought one with baby #1 at 20 ish weeks- never heard ANYTHING baby - except the car's driving by on the road -a 1/2 acre away behind my house with the windows cosed! I returned it, the girl said a lot of them get returned.
