Hi Rebekah,

I don't have my copy anymore, but Leche League is Tuesday morning at 10:30AM at West Knox library. I'd be willing to bet there is a copy in the LLL library that you could check out. Plus, it's a great way to meet other Mamas!

Are you planning on delivering at Lisa Ross or one of the local hospitals?

Hi Anna! Thanks for responding.
Can anyone go to La Leche League? Can I bring my 3 year old?

I am planning on having a waterbirth at Lisa Ross. I am very very excited about the midwives there and the facility. Did you deliver there? I am a bit nervous, I must admit, since I have been basically brainwashed to believe that hospital birth is the only safe option, but I had an uncomplicated, unmedicated vaginal hospital birth with my son so I know I can do it. It's just all the what-if's that make me nervous from time to time.

Sorry for the novel, I just appreciate your interest.

Will you be at the meeting on Tuesday?

Yup, everyone is welcome. There are actually several pregnant Mamas that have been there the past few meetings.

We started out at Lisa Ross and ended up transfering to the hospital - some 29 hours of labor and Rachel was finally delivered by C-Section. The water was glorious, and I wanted a water birth so much!

To ease your mind - I will certainly try our second at a birthing center! I was more uncomfortable at the hospital than I ever was at Lisa Ross. You'll do wonderfully. Linda and Christine were both on-call for different parts of my labor, and they were both very supportive.

Here's her birth story, if you'd like to read.

We plan on being there tomorrow, I'm generally the one running late because the start of the meeting is a bit early for Rachel to finish her morning nap.

Here's hoping we get to see you there!

I had Lauren at the brith center. I would def. recommend it. It was going to be a waterbirth, but the tub only got about halfway full before she was born.
It was an awesome experience. If we have another it will be there again, unless I can get everyone on board with a homebirth. We did have a small emergency, but it was handled wonderfully. All was fine! I'm certain things were better with me being there than at the hospital. My dh was even impressed. He was very wary at the beginning, but I got him on board. It was too funny to hear him explaining the benefits of NCB to his brother at Thanksgiving. :LOL

I'm planning on trying to make the LLL meeting. I always seem to forget. I can tell you about Lauren's birth if I see you there. If not, I'll put up my birth story.

ETA: Anna - those Storm in the Attic shorts (capris? - trying to guess off the measurements) are too cool!

So, they do VBAC's at Lisa Ross? That is awesome. I was very conflicted about whether or not to go there with DS2; in hindsight I probably made the right decision about going to the hospital actually, but I deeply regret the natural birth that I'll never have. I'm a bit of a birth story junkie.
I forget if they allow vbacs at Lisa Ross. I hear that St. Mary's and Baptist near Turkey Creek both have water birth centers. I will certainly do my best though to find a free-standing birth center that will let me give it a whirl!

My current OB/GYN is all for my having a natural childbirth next! I was afraid he would balk at the idea because Rachel was so large, but he was very open to our wishes. We'll see if that's the opinion still when #2 actually comes along.

It was fun to have lunch with with you yesterday, Rebekah and Nicole!

Anna, we had a blast! I am a little embarassed
for sort of blabbering like a 7th grader when we left, but I was happy to have met up with you and Stacia and Nicole.

I meant to ask you, I saw on your user profile that you are a photographer. Do you photograph births by chance???

We had a great time too. Both of them were asleep before we got home. I love getting out of the house. With 2 so young, it's hard though.

Rebekah - Do you need any maternity clothes? I've got a bunch, including several swimsuits that were worn once or never. I've got to update my album with the pics in it, but you're more than welcome to anything. I want it out of here.
Nicole-YES!!! Thank you!!! I'm PMing you....

We all need to get together again before next month.

Hi! I'm glad to have found this thread! I live in South Knoxville and am a stay at home mom. If anyone ever wants to meet up I'm usually available. I'm probably going to start MamaBaby yoga next week. I've been playing phone tag with the teacher, I think her name is Lindsay...has anyone taken it around here before? I've been doing Fit Mama and Me (Leisa Hart) and my son loves it...well, just wanted to say "Hi!". Chrissy, mom to Xander

Popping in (not from Knoxville) to say Rebekah, this is my friend Chrissy (aliaspice) from my hometown. Chrissy, this is my friend Rebekah from the internet, we chat regularly on the phone. You're both really sweet and it would be cool if you met! You're also the same age, I believe... Okay, popping back out...

Hi Chrissy! Nice to meet you.
Welcome. I live (unfortunately) in West Knoxville, home of restaurants and shopping! :LOL

I'm assuming that MamaBaby yoga is a class involving said baby? I need a yoga class (prenatal preferred) but I need cheap!

I am usually available anytime. Mornings are best, as the noontime heat has already proven to be quite powerful! PM me if you ever want to meet up, maybe at a park or the zoo or something else even. I have just lived here for a year and am still discovering things to do.

There are awesome mamas from here, Nicole, Anna, Sarah, etc. who live in Knoxville, too. I just met up with them at the LLL meeting. You should come to that!

Anyhoo, just wanted tos ay Hi,
Hope you have a good day!

I wanted a VCAC really badly at Lisa Ross but they wouldn't do it...was told that they don't do VBACs

I'm really anxious to get together with some more Knoxville mamas and am really looking forward to the API meeting this month.

Aww, I'm sorry. It's probably good for my state of mind back then that I didn't even inquire; I was afraid of that answer, y/k?

Yep, the MamaBaby yoga is taught by Lindsay Rogers. She is an AWESOME woman who attended my DD's homebirth this February. In addition to being an amazing yoga instructor, she's also a labor and delivery nurse at Fort Sanders and has worked at Lisa Ross (she worked there while I was pregnant with my first child). I think she's teaching the classes at Shakti yoga... I would definately recommend them for anyone. She also has prenatal yoga classes. I can't say enough good things about her--- I obviously think she's a cool chica if I let her come to my homebirth.
Her e-mail is [email protected].

Hi, ladies! I'm a Knoxville mom-to-be (due in August), and am actually looking for Pediatrician information. I thought we had one selected, however I am not quite agreeing with some policies in their office (Knoxville Pediatric Associates). If anyone knows any that are BFing advocates as well as open to selective/delaying vax's, I would really appreciate it!
TIA!!!

Umm, yeah, I was going to use KPA with this baby, but I was told they now longer accepted babies not born in a hospital. Here's a couple of recommendations: link
well, I will be moving there in about 4-6 weeks, and you could borrow my copy...McKay's is a wonderful place...have you seen thier new store? I am getting as many waterbirth books as I can find there! Do you know any other bookstores in the area?
