Hey Mamas!
SO these last few months have gone by sooo fast. I haven't really been on the boards much at all. I would love a January get together but where to do it with the cold weather here. Anyone else interested...any ideas? I hope everyone is staying warm...

I'm here, just flat out with work and the holidays and other assorted projects. We've been playing at Fort Kidd in the afternoons a few days a week, but that was before it got so frickin' cold.

I'd be up for a January get-together, but somewhere warm!

Happy Holidays to ya'll --

I'm here enjoying my winter break from college.
So when can we meet up again? I had so much fun that time I was able to meet with you guys.

I could use some help with something. Do you guys know of a playgroup type program for 2 yr old? Something like Gymboree?? My son really needs some social interaction badly! TIA

Hey mommas--- this is my first time posting on MDC. Someone on DiaperPin suggested I come over here with my dilemma and I think you chicas are a great place to start! I'll make it brief---

I'm 38 weeks pregnant with my second kiddo. Yesterday I had an, um, disagreement with my back-up physician (doing a homebirth--- anyone need a good midwife? Mine's great!) and she kicked me out of her office. That's what I get for questioning the medical model, huh?

Anyway, this back-up physician also happens to be my sister-in-law AND also happens to be my son's current pediatrician. Uh-oh, right? So now I'm VERY PREGNANT, I'm IDSO a back-up doc in case of transfer, and I'd like to get a family physician so that I can take the kiddos there as well. Anyone have suggestions? I know there's supposed to be a groovy doc with an Indian/Hindu last name near the Kroger on Northshore (was recommened by the Lisa Ross Birth Center for our first babe but we ended going to see SIL instead... grrrr.) Requirements: supportive of no vaxing, no circing, breastfeeding, CDing, veganism, co-sleeping... Uhm, pretty much The Dream Doctor. Does he or she exist in Knoxville?

Thanks so much! I'm in a pregnant woman panic right now... feel free to e-mail me!

Hey Heather!

Thanks so much for your e-mails... I haven't had a minute to respond yet but I always like hearing from you.

I'm hoping to make it out to the LLL meeting in early Feb, so maybe we can meet then! Meanwhile I have some leads, esp. on no-vax friendly doctors. I'll write you later on--- take care and thanks again! You really made my day.

Hey mommas! I was just popping in to let you all know that my baby is finally here. Lauren Elise made her debut on Jan 14. She was born very quickly at the Lisa Ross Center. I got there at 8 pm and was only 2 cm, 90 % effaced. I debated going home but decided to stay, since it was nighttime. It's a good thing I did. She was born at 9:33 PM. She's a tiny thing. She was only 6 lb 13 oz and 19 in. Even newborn clothes are a little big on her. Click on her name in my sig to she her.

And welcome to Lauren. What a cutie! So pleased that you had an easy time of it and thanks for sharing the news of her arrival. Hope to meet her in person sometime soon (when we all get together, that is...)

Hey guys, I am up for hearing about any great churches who encourage you to keep babies with you, not dump them in the nursery, and where lots of moms nurse, not a few (like the church I am attending now).

I am feeling kind of bad about this, I can't get it out of my mind. NO ONE in my large church is nursing, at least not at church. They ALL bring bottles and it's getting to me. I want to hear the message and be supported with my role as mom/wife, and meet other Christian moms who raise their children like us.

Anyone have a great place they want to share???

hello mamas! I'm currently a virginia mama with moving on my mind...my hubby has an interview in knoxville on wednesday. we are very excited (but also stressed) about the possibility of moving much closer to our family in Ky. we are 12 hours away, and in TN we would be 5 hours away from family...so anyway, i'm wondering if you all would give me some info. about good neighborhoods, schools, etc. the office where my husband would work is on the west side. we like the country but want access to health food stores, LLL, montessori, preschools, etc. any thoughts, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Here is the link-hope to meet you all there!

Zenfulmama-we just moved here from South Carolina a few months back and everything cool seems to be on the West side-but with it comes horrific congestion! We moved to the far north side out in the country because we found our dream home on 5 acres, but I am on the West side weekly if not 2-3 times a week doing different things (the LLL meets there, so does the moms group I linked above, lots of Montessori and Waldorf schools, most of the homeschooling groups are there, etc).

There are tons of families who homeschool all over this area but most are on the West side, so we are there for lots of different events.

As for nursing friendly-I would say we are in for a challenge that I am up to taking on

Thanks for the link on the nursing group. One of these days I'm going to want to get out of the house again, and the people I know close by don't bf. I'm not brave enough to go out with both babies yet, and my dh's schedule doesn't fit for LLL meetings.
