Signing on...

Welcome Rommi! How old is your new boy? I have a just turned 2 yo DD, but also live on the westside. Are you far?

MG - Congrats on kindergarden!

Well, night 4 of night weaning went much much better. We didn't have to leave the bedroom, and there was hardly any crying or kicking. Just a little frustration at not being able to fall to sleep right away. And she woke up extremely happy and rested! But now she points at the sky all day an dsays "up!" "milk!" "happy!". LOL.

Moonlissa - hang in there! Maybe the babe is waiting for Merc out of Retro? Can you wait that long???

new thread--whoooopeeee!!! is it really sept/oct??!! does that mean no more living in a hotbox?! no more huge electric bills?

thanks for the well wishes re my friend and baby... i am going up to see her tonight and help get baby to bed and give her a chance to get caught up on bills, etc. i am going to evaluate the situation tonight and call her pediatrician in the morning and discuss. this is the course of action the doula and i agreed on.. and i talked to a pediatrician friend who actually knows her ped and says the guy will follow up and do the right thing. thanks to all who emailed me great advice!! i do appreciate it. i've been sleeping poorly and having nightmares... i hope to see that his diaper rash is either gone or better...

pom--i feel for you! after so long of being sleep deprived, this is like kicking you when you're down. i hope she gets it, soon!!!

dh is miffed at me for some small slight he won't discuss... i hate it when he has his period!!!!

meanwhile i am having my new GREAT thing, which is reverse PMS--i PMS now before i ovulate, not before my period. AND i am so damn fertile i am afraid to be in the same room with dh!! i am gonna start going to my new gym this week and i want to get back in shape before getting preggo with #2. (which, barring any accidents, we are planning a year from now)

dd and i had major colds last week, but she is fine now, i just have malingering ickies in my lungs. hopefully it will go away soon.

MA - I'm in the same boat, I want to get into shape before ttcing next summer. All that wonderful weight I lost w/ nursing is back now that Ds is eating more, and I ate way too many piroshkies in Seattle. :

Welcome home everyone....was the east coast still wet and hot?

MA - Silly goose, did you forget the Santa Anna's of Sept??? Am glad you have a plan for your friend...this is something you can't handle alone!!!

Can I pick your brains (I hate that phrase...got a better one?) for a 2 year old's birthday?

We did the big friends/family thing at our home last year which was way too stressful for me to relive this year. There won't be a lot of children, so one of those kids' places is out. We are considering just having grandparents over, then doing a special outing for him for his birthday (on which a set of grandparents will prob. come anyway).

It would be so fun to have some other mamas at the same stage in PG! For us, Dh is the one who is more ready. He'd be happy now, I on the other hand have a mile-long list of home improvements for us (okay, him) to do first.

Melaniee....we didn't do anything for ds' 2nd. I didn't want to do ChuckE or any other "themed" party that he would not remember anyway. For his 3rd, we just had one set of grandparents visiting, we went out to dinner to celebrate at Outback and they brought ds his own birthday sundae. He LOVED it! (Still talks about it 6 months later).

MA...I have never had acupuncture, though I'm definitely into alternative modalities. I'm waiting for a friend to finish up his degree as an AP. As an LMT I know the pressure points to induce contractions, but since labor doesn't begin with me, I am hesitant to do much of any "pushing along" until I get to the absolute END of my pregnant rope. I'm not there yet...just HOPING (REALLY HARD) that baby decides to come soon....like NOW!

I've had some "activity" happening all day today. Maybe today's the day....

Pom...when does Merc return? Uh, I HAT MercRetro...I always manage to piss someone off....

I was talking to my friend today who is an astrologer...she didn't mention it, but said she would check the charts today for me about being a good day to be born. DS was born on the full moon in March of '00. Next full moon is next Wednesay. So, in the 1st Q, it's still a good time (as far as the moon goes anyway). Don't think I can wait for Merc. But, I'll keep it in mind 'cuz I was going to talk to my mother about a serious matter of her person....I'll wait on THAT one.

Going to get some food and to put my feet up.....Thanks for thinking of me everyone!

mercury goes direct on Sept 20.. and is the same date that the moon wobble (don't ask!) stops wobbling...
Mars goes direct the end of the month.. that will be a huge relief...
I have pushed back the opening of the store until the 20th, becsuse of the two abovementioned reasons... if it is ametaphysical store I should heed some advice regarding auspicious times to open a business, don'tcha think??
Pom... just in case you want to pass as a local one day.. it is Santa Ana, one n, not two...
cheers...

LM - You always catch my typos!!!!!

Melaniee -- I got some good advice that says there should only be as many children as your child's age...2 kids for a 2 yo, 3 for a 3 yo, etc. Sounds like you already have a good idea. We had too many people, it was toooooo stressful for everyone. Sigh, and it was my own family that made it so! Lesson LEARNED.

Moon wobble? C'mon you have to explain!!!

Fingers crossed for you, Liss -- maybe a baby born during all this wobblin' retro'in' will be especially lucky and resiliant?

MoonLissa - Dh did acuPRESSURE on me to induce labor, I think it was from the Birth Partner, book, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are really desperate. I don't know what we were thinking. I ended up with a Mec-birth...water broke first...yadda yadda...hospital...whole 9 yards. Later someone told me that any inducement (natural or otherwise) often causes a mec. birth.

Pom - I got similiar advice, but it was to double the child's age...so 4 guests for 2 year old, which is about how many children there'd be, if we decide to go that route. I just want to do SOMETHING so he knows it's a special day...not Chuck E. :LOL

yay!! I like when we have a new thread and everyone gets all chatty.

just getting off to bed here... but wanted to say, i went to see my friend tonight and both her and baby seemed a LOT better. i bathed, fed and rocked him to sleep while she pumped and ate the dinner i brought, then chatted with her for awhile and helped her get settled so she could go to bed... we had a very frank conversation and i felt OK about things... i will go see her again friday night and do the same thing and see if it continues to get better. i feel very relieved right now, because being me, i had expected the worst, and i REALLY did not want to have to be calling social services tonight.

pom, it would be too funny if we all got preggo next summer!!! but oh boy, the communal bingeing we would do.... my stomach hurts just THINKING about it!!!!

Hey Everybodeeee... We're finally home, what a trip! Burning Man was SO amazing! We camped with a wonderful group of people who adored Benny and I practically had to schedule a moment to spend with him The actual trip part was fairly wretched; we had a crappy RV, Ben & I were sick going up and Dan was sick coming back, but we survived and it really was worth it. We already miss it and are making plans for next year.

Lissa, lots of Labor vibes at ya

MG, I hope your back is all better! I got freaky, spasic shoulder last week, it was so not fun. It made me think of you and I hoped your's hadn't been so painful, I'm sorry to hear it was

Oh, there's so much to catch up on, but I really have to go to bed. We have to return the crappy RV in the morning and I have piles of the dustiest, grossest laundry you have ever laid eyes on
I'll check in more tomorrow. Hope you're all having a faboo week!!

I have a friend from OC who I used to meet at the 3rd Street Promenade, but now that I have a toddler, I'm looking for someplace that will be more fun for him, and her 6 mo. Any ideas, somewhat in that vicinity? It's about halfway for us...Everyplace I can think of revolves around shopping, and Ds is a little trooper, but I don't want to make him sit in a car for an hour to sit in a stroller for 2 hours, KWIM?

Thanks mamas!

<sigh> still here...fat and sassy (well, not really fat, just BIG).

lunarmomma...I don't think I can wait for Merc to go direct. If I go past next Wed (full moon) I'm just gonna spend my days crying after that. I thought your store was in Seattle? What country are you in? :

rube...WB. I've always wanted to go on an RV trip. Though, I don't need the piles of yucky laundry. Already have plenty of that and we just decided to use cloth for new baby. I would be nutty but I found some CUTE all-in-one's (Little Lambs) that I hope will make up for the tedium of doing them myself.

MA...glad to hear about your friend having a better day. Perhaps she can think about "one day at a time"??

MG...HA-ha! We do have nonrefundable reservations. At the end of Sept, though and I am NOT waiting THAT long!!!!

Pom...lucky baby under the all the wobbing retrogrades would be interesting. Thanks for the good wishes (all of you!)

niee....I knew you meant pressure, though my response did not reflect that.. I really miss my brain..... Yes, I am definitely hesitant about inducement of any type. I'll just have to find more patience, I suppose................: I wonder if I can find some on Ebay.....

Later...I have to find somewhere to put all my hormonal bitchiness. Too bad we can't ship it to the White House, eh?

hi.
mg and others... I am in LA, the store is in BC, Canada... yes i am not insane. I will be staying on here in LA, for the time being, travelling to and fro with stuff for the store. There is a previous employee who is staying on who will manage the place... she is very committed to the store and into it... that is how I am attempting such an insane idea.

Melaniee, how about Aidan's Park, on Westwood Blvd, it's right off the 405 (Wilshire exit), it is between Wilshire and SM Blvd, just north of Ohio.. East side of street. it has loads to do for a toddler, and a bigger kid... it is big, so you have to keep an eye on them though... Lots to do and play with... It is not fenced, however, so if you have a runner, you will be getting some good exercise in and waving to your friend while she sits happily on a blanket with her 6 month old!!

Liss. remember that we all choose our time of birth and our parents, etc.. There will be no misphaps or accidents if baby chooses this time to be born.. It means they are hardy and resilient!!
So don't worry...
I too, am not for induction for that reason. I think they come out just when they need to, unless of course, there is a valid medical reason to have them out sooner.

rube, welcome home... I wouldn't like to couldn't stay dirty for that long... burning man is not for this virgo, methinks!! but hats off to you who can!!!

Pom, how is the night thing going??

Oh, that's right. Seattle......I was geographically close. My apologies. I'm glad there is someone up there that you can count on, though.

ITA about how we pick our parents and our time. Wobbly retro, if that's what it needs...so be it! A friend is just waiting to cast the natal chart. Should be interesting. I also agree about avoiding induction unless validly medically necessary. So...I'll just be here trying not to be grumbling as I remind myself that this child has it's own agenda and I'm only here as one of the guides.

Thanks for the reminder and perspective. Talk to you tomorrow!
