Castor oil - the taste/thought of drinking it is horrible but it did clean out my system and bring on contractions. Labor didn't start however but if you are ready for it it might. You can also do a search on google and check out what they pull up-I did that and found lots of ideas. Good Luck!
castor oil didnt work for me, and it was AWFUL...i have trouble recommending that to anyone. evening primose oil was what put me into labor, buy the capsules and insert 2 into your vagina like a suppository every 6-8 hrs. (i think you can use more but she should prob ask the midwife) They can also be taken by mouth. I starting using them and 3 days later went into labor. I also had my membranes stripped twice, the second time was the night before i went into labor so that might have helped too. The only problem is , if baby isnt ready to come out and youre body isnt ready it isnt going to happen no matter what you do.
Try using a breastpump for more nipple stimulation. I have read that it can really work. Has to be for long periods of time.
No personal experience though. Stripping membranes is what worked for me.
Acupuncture you can't really do to yourself (I am assuming!) but acupressure you can. Here is a link to a great illustrated guide to acupressure points to use for childbirth pain. Several of the points are also indicated as ways to induce labor (I will be trying them soon, as I am entering into my 41st week!)
Thanks all!! It's my fault I can't use any of these great suggestions though! I dumped coffee on my laptop last Friday morning, I think it was. The motherboard is fried. This is the first time I've been able to get somewhere and check MDC. my friend has her doc appt. tomorrow and they've really got her convinced inducing is a good idea with her history of going over. her 'late'
edd is 8/6. (they gave her 2, that one and then later one at the end of July sometime, they moved it up.) She was willing to try some natural things at my suggestion though...
Acupuncture won't work for her unless they decide not to induce tomorrow for some reason as the person I know won't do it till after your latest edd.
If for some reason they decide not to induce her tomorrow, I'll give her the suggestions. I know she won't do castor oil again, she already tried it.
pedicure with foot massage is the only suggestion I didn't see
Make sure to ask if the person knows that pregnant women are NOT supposed to have pedicures because of the massage of foot and lower leg that should go with it... if they don't know that, just let them know that you want a totally NORMAL pedicure/foot massage because you're in the safety zone for giving birth and are hoping for the inducing possibility of the massage! (There's a pressure point on the lower leg that's supposed to help.)
As a PPer mentioned, if the baby and body aren't willing to let go, then the methods mentioned (including stripping the membranes) will more than likely NOT work unless the mama's uterus is "weak". My SIL's uterus wanted to expell BOTH of her babies before they were 31 weeks along... so all she had to do when she wanted to go into labor was have sex one time and that set everything in motion. So it depends on the mama's body in a BIG way!
