I've never been in labor before so I have a few questions.

1. Do you HAVE to have bloody show early on? ie-the mw said she suspected that I lost my plug already in small bits and pieces, w/ no blood. I don't get it.

2. Does the feeling like you have to pee w/ every ctrx EVER go away. What I mean is, everytime I have a bh ctx I have to pee, but does that feeling go away if you are in true labor?

3. I seem to be passing a lot of gas, but i haven't been eating any gassy foods lately-are the bh ctx irritating my guts?:

I've never had the "bloody show" never had my water break on its own either....

As far as needing to pee with BH, I think that will probably go away, I've not had that feeling in labor, but then the BH don't do it to me either.

The gas is probably just your LUCKY symptom :LOL - sorry, I don't have that either, although a lot of women do.

typically when I am with a laboring client, you see bloody show around 4-5 cm. That is when the dilation is breaking the capilaries and you see some blood. Otherwise, you may or may not notice your plug, which is different and mainly snotty mucous with perhaps a string of old blood in it. ( graphic enough??)

for some yes, for some no. Some hiccup after every ctx, some belch, some pee!

the uterus is compacted up against the bowels. When you have a bm, you may get some ctx, and when you have a ctx it may stimulate your bowels. They are so up close that they nag each other like annoying siblings during the last few weeks and labor...

Hope I helped!

I'm in the gassy stage right now at 37 weeks. It feels like it can be hard to get out and causes back pain, which is why I notice it more. I also poop frequently--3 times today so far. I had this in my first pregnancy too, although I think I was more constipated then. I have never noticed BH contractions in either pregnancy.

I didn't have bloody show until I was in the birthing tub, maybe 5 minutes before my body started pushing. I had the show and felt my bag of waters bulging, then my body pushed with the next contraction, I got out of the tub, braced on the sink with the next contraction/pushing, and then my water broke. Tristan was born about 20 minutes later.
I didn't feel like I had to pee during labor, though I've heard some moms do. I remember being gassy in the weeks before labor, but not during labor itself.
HTH. Good birthing!

Well I'm 37 1/2 weeks and I REALLY thought last night might be the night. I had bh from 10 am til midnight, at least 4 an hour, but some of them were coming every 5 minutes and lasting 1-2 minutes. A couple were very uncomfortable but not painful at all. I kept hoping that they would intensify, or become regular but alas, they did not.

Today I feel queasy, but not one lil ctx yet. I may make it to the 19th after all! lol!

I had to pee with almost every contraction grrrr it was horrible, the ctx right after peeing were by far the hardest!!!! they hurt so bad!

I never did have bloody show, thought I had lost my mucus plug earlier, but then noticed it coming out many times while on the toilet. My MW said that it doesn't just come out all at once, I was concerned there might be something wrong with mine that kept coming and kept coming.

Hey Treelove,
My water broke when I was shopping for post-partum pajamas at Dillards, no warning what-so-ever, definately not a bit of bloody show. Well, I say that. I lost my mucous plug first, which was an abundant, gloppy mess and I thought "Well, I'd better head home" and then Wooooooosh, out came the water. So I tried to discreetly leave the store looking like I had just totally peed in my pants. Lucky I had on absorbant blue jeans or I would have made a terrible mess.

I wouldn't actually wish this on you, but my birthday is the 19th, so if you did happen to go full term, I would get a cheap thrill from that.

Here's to an earlier birthday!
I have never had bloody show (that I was aware of.) The only time I saw my mucous plug (it came out WHOLE) there was no accompanying bloody show, although I had been in the tub so it might have been light and washed away.

With my last birth there was a space of about three hours (near the end) where I had to pee with every single contraction. Had never happened to me before.
