I posted this elsewhere, but have gotten little response so I was hoping someone here could maybe help. Basically, I had been feeling the baby move strongly. But suddenly, it all stopped. The baby was moving very strong on Friday when watching a movie. Then Sat and since then, no movements at all. I tried to call the doctor and leave messages, but no return call. That frustrates me. I am 18.5 weeks now. I know many people do not feel much movement at this point, but I had already been feeling a lot and strong movements.

From what i have read here and elsewhere, this is nothing to be concerned about. Baby will do this being really active and then maybe days with nothing. don't worry! Baby doesn't start steadily moving around until much much closer to the due date.

Well, have you tried the old - drink a glass of OJ or something equally sugary and lie down on the couch? That always works for me later - I'm actually panicing bc I still don't really FEEL the baby. Listened to the heartbeat about an hour ago, though, so it's semi-making me feel better.

I even tried drinking coffee. Nothing is working. I called up to labor and delivery and they said drink ice water...also not working. I do have to go to the bathroom though.

I've read that it's really common at this time too. I was a little nervous because I felt baby moving a lot recently and then not much at all Friday and Saturday... it wasn't until Sunday night at dinner there was movement again. Today all day it feels like constant somersaults are going on in there.

Have you tried calling your hcp, if you're really concerned maybe you could go in and have a listen with the doppler.

I am in the same boat. I didn't feel hardley anything and was having trouble pin pointing if it was the baby or gas on Saturday, Sunday and Today. I obviously do not like this one bit but I keep telling myself that this is normal *and* I feel fine in all other ways so maybe the baby is in a position where I can't feel all the little kicks and punches.

If you feel worried, go in for a heartbeat check. Listen to your instincts.. it doesn't matter how common it is for a baby to not move much at certain points. If you're concerned, get it checked out.

Lisa, are you by chance in Dallas? I think I answered your question on another board if so.

If not, please know it is very normal to stop feeling baby at this point as they move around inside of you. They are small and have plenty of move to settle into their placenta or to face backwards so you can't feel the movement as well. Most OBs don't show concern until after about 22 weeks. However, as a mom, I know that not feeling baby is very scary and if your OB is halfway decent you should be able to show up and ask for a quick belly check with a doppler.

this happend to me with DD but I did not know any better to be concerned
and the advice the providers gave was all stated by these smart mamas

BTW you could go to the OB office and just "ask to use the doppler" or see if your friend "the dismissive nurse" can doppler check you. I have done this before and dodged many OB visits because the got my weight, BP and FH--so I was good to go and avoided the "you are over 35" lecture
good luck, it is worrysome

Yes, I am. I had 4 losses in a row before this pregnancy, one of which was at 16.5 weeks.

Stress/worry is never good!!! Did you go in to get checked with the doppler? It's very likely that it's perfectly normal, that baby has just repositioned and is kicking against the placenta or something like that. But if it's worrying you, which it obviously is, then go in. Don't listen to any nurse, just go in.

Oh, yes, sorry..there is an update. The baby was fine. Still did not move until last night. Then I ate greasy pizza. I never eat pizza or greasy foods. I came home with a tummy ache and laid down for 2 hrs. I woke with a headache. I guess the baby agreed that the pizza was a bad idea as he was kicking kicking kicking. There are 3 pictures in this link..but look at the last one. The first one is old. The 2nd has 2 pictures from yesterday but the last one is yesterdays but closer up and soooo cute!
