Please, please, please, PLEASE call a La Leche League leader. It's free, they are very experienced, and will do what it takes to help. And did I mention it's free? Plus, a lactation consultant never actually has to have nursed to be certified, did you know that? LLL leaders have to nursed for a year min...so they've experienced some of what real people have problems with. Go to www.llli.org and go to the bottom of the page, there's a part you click on that sends you to a listing of countries, click on United States, then click on your state, and it will give you a list of local groups. Please, give it a try. It's free. You COULD join as a member, but the leaders will help you regardless.

RIDICULOUS!!
do they not allow out-of pocket pays?

or do you not have the money?

I would call your LLL Leaders, they will help over the phone for free. and should be able to recommend some more LC's.....

My midwife, who is not technically an LC, but quite knowledgable, came to see me for like $75....there are at least 5 other LC's in the area...plus, there are like 6+ LLL Leaders, many of whom are also actual LC's.....plus, WIC has BF counselors and LC's, and the 2 hospitals have LC's on staff., plus one has a free BF support group with an LC........I don't know your history, but usually hospital help is free, at least here...

I don't know where you are located, but if you are in SE MI PM me, my MW is an LC, and I know for a fact she would see you without insurance for probably a low fee.

they want $$ up front. All of my other stuff is in collections {sagamore has a lot of fine print stuff that we knew nothing about until after the bills started pouring in} or on a payments plan, but this...

The health department in our county is a joke. And not a very funny one. They sent a letter of concern to me when the school alterted them to my dd's vaccine exemption letter. I sent them back a copy of the state law allowing me to choose the exemption without consequence...

Going to try and get in touch with a different LLL than I tried the last time. The one linked for our area doesn't reply to my e-mails, so I'm going to try the next closest leader.. Thanks for the reminder!

There should be a phone number on the site. If you can't find a phone number on your local group, there is definately a national help line, and usually a helpline state to state. Where are you?

Indiana. I just called and left a voicemail for the LLL leader that gave me the address of the on-site sling shop I needed a few weeks ago. I didn't even know she was a LLL leader until now. I found her email the last time through a sling site wow..
