I am going later to my boyfriend's house. We are moving in together in a few weeks.

I am going to tackle the bathroom. It hasn't been properly cleaned in YEARS. I need some moral support. Maybe I should take a friend....

It took me 8 hrs to clean the kitchen without doing the walls, floors, or the rings and plates on the stove (I replaced them $30 well spent) My bf didn't know that the crispers came out.

How can someone not own a mop? Really, thats just bizarre.

The funny part is he is very tidy. He vaccums and dusts every week and does dishes every day. How can you vaccum every week and not realize your kitchen floor is GREEN, not brown?

I'm usually fairly crunchy when it comes to cleaning, but if I've ever heard of a situation where it'd be appropriate to blow through a *LOT* of paper towels (and maybe even some bleach), this is it!

Good luck!

I love my nateral cleaners. I really do. The kitchen took 2 bottles of fantastic though. I have a very cool scrubby with silver in it that is helping me through this difficult time....
I am also prepared with a bottle of Vim Oxy gel...once its clean I will re-clean with vinegar and water to wash away all the chemicals.
What a good nateral cleaner for mold?

Mold hates vinegar. A diluted solution, perhaps?

Maybe your supply bucket should include a bottle of wine or other imbibement so that you can develop some amnesia about the experience after the fact . We wouldn't want you to be permanently scarred.

And yes, please do check back in. We want to know you survived.

You're sure you want to live with this guy? Could the household budget somehow accomodate a regular cleaning person, since he's apparently unaware of basic cleaning practices?

I take it that him cleaning up his own crap isn't an option for some reason?

That is not it at all. He has offered repeatedly to do it himself. I want it cleaned to my own standard. I think its just easier if I do it myself, then have him do it, and then re-do it later.

It will be fine once its clean. Easier to maintain then go in after the fact. We can't really afford a cleaning service to do the work before I move in. Yes I am very sure I want to live with him I love him, we can work on what is really considered clean after I move in.
I think he is realizing that what was fine for him to live in by himself is NOT fine for me and ds. I don't have a problem doing the bathroom and mopping and such after we move in together if he does other stuff.

Well I made it through alive. It took me and a girlfriend of mine 3 hrs to clean it. I didn't clean the mold b/c I have asthma and my mom (an RN) told me to leave because if I disturb it into the air I could trigger an attack.
It was pretty gross. I actually gagged cleaning behind the toilet. There was sludge back there. The tub/shower is actually stained so it would ever be white again. We even tried a calcium remover and nothing.

Cleaning out the medicine cabinet near the end of our work was actually pretty funny. I found some polysporin that expired in June 1991. It was either laugh or cry so we were laughing so hard our sides hurt.

So it is done and can be cleaned 2 times a week now like I do normally and it should be just fine.
Thanks for the moral support ladies.
