Please join us for the second C.H.O.I.C.E.S. meeting!
Tonight at 6 p.m. at the West Lafayette Library. Free and open to the public.
Children are welcome; there will be a play area in the room and healthful snacks. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month.
In this meeting we will cover the tough topic of chemicals and other toxins in toys, clothes, foods and cleaners, just in time for Christmas. We will pay special attention to baby and children's toys, talking about safe plastics, woods, and other safer alternatives.
We will have some of our favorite baby and toddler toys to show, our book-of-the-month, as well as some brands and websites to check out before you bundle up and head out to do your holiday shopping.
We will also briefly discuss the safety and reliability of the flu vaccine, how it is made, recommendations for use (as issued by the AMA), and warnings of side-effects. We will have hand-outs so you can investigate on your own and make the best decision for your family.
As always, if you have any questions about pregnancy, birth, or parenting (even those not related to the topic), please bring them to the meeting!
NEXT MONTH: A talk on attachment parenting--what it is, why it may be beneficial for your family, resources for more information.
