Ok, so I got my first wool soakers in the mail yesterday. I lanolized them and I *thought* I did it right but I must have messed something up because I have lanolin goop spots all over both soakers.

I dissolved it in hot water like you are supposed to, so I don't know what happened.

Can anybody tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Did you use any wool wash with it?

Yeah - you need either baby shampoo or wool wash to keep the lanolin from gooping back up. I seem to recall that vinegar can strip the lanolin out of wool, so it might be something to try, maybe with warm water.

Will baby WASH work? I don't think I have baby shampoo. Yeah, I didn't know you had to add that. I know the water is hot enough. My hot water heater is all the way up and it was hot enough that I couldn't put my hand in it. It dissolved pretty easily, anyways.

I will try the vinegar to get the lanolin out and then I will try again.

Thanks!
