I want to start buying large amount of organic grains, etc. (maybe 25-50 lbs.). Does anyone have ideas for non-plastic storage containers? I remember my mom having a metal storage container for her flour but that was 20 years ago.

TIA!!!

I use 5 gal plastic pails for my bulk grains and pet food. I know that's not the answer you're looking for though. Glass would be SO heavy and I'm not comfortable with a steel bin unless I KNOW it's food-grade safe (and I've never seen them), like my #5 HDPE (or whatever it was) buckets that are airtight. I'd be concerned with what is in the solder and lining in a metal pan. Never line a food pail with a trashbag, but I"m sure you know that already.

Would glass work? This link shows some glass containers. You could also use old mayo or applesauce jars.

http://freefromplastic.com/category/...ge-conatiners/
