My dd2 will be two on Friday. Recently we've developed some problems with latch. She's holding onto my nipple by biting and frequently pulling away while still latched on. I'm starting to think about weaning, to be honest, because it really kinda hurts. I've tried talking to her about good latch, but it isn't really helping. She also has decided to only nurse from one breast. Any advice? Do lactation consultants work with toddlers?

I would, when she's not latching properly, remind her *at that moment* " no teeth" or "no pulling!" and get her to relatch. If she doesn't, pop her off, and have her wait a bit (30 seconds?) and ask if she wants to try again.<br><br>
DD's thing at that age was seriously acrobatic nursing, and twiddling with the other nipple. The above technique worked really well.<br><br>
As for only taking one side, unless the other is getting seriously engorged, I wouldn't worry about it. Many moms have nursed with only one breast.<br><br>
