Late baby, then early baby?

539 Views 12 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  flapjack
I am just curious what other mamas experiences are, although I know it has no real bearing on my experience!

My dd1 was 19 days past her EDD, and I know our dates were on because we know for sure the conception date. She never truly engaged in my pelvis until labour, and while I was effaced I was not dilated before labour.

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with dd2, and am 1cm dilated, baby's head is very engaged, cervix is soft. I have not had any contractions, loss of mucous, etc...

I am wondering if there is a possibility that I will go into labour a little earlier, even at 40 weeks would be good! I just hope it's not another 42w5d baby!

Thanks for sharing your stories in advance!

DD1 was 3 weeks late
DD2 was 2 weeks early
Don't first babies often take longer than subsequent babies? Not as a definite rule or anything, just in general?

Yeah, in general! But since dd was very late, earlier than her could still be late!

(Only 11 more days left until you TTC, how exciting!)

Goodness, I hope not, my first baby was 11 days early.... I'd be happy with 9 days early, valentines day though

Well, my first was 2 weeks late and my second was 3 weeks late...

Term is 38-42 weeks so any baby born in that time is clearly just a term baby neither "late" nor "early". They come on their birthdays, remember

My first was 41+3 and my second was about 37/8. Go figure

Well, dd was 42+5, so I guess she was late! I do know what you mean though, I actually did a pretty job of not being impatient until 42 weeks, but it was then that I reached my patience cut-off!

It's so hard you know, I believe that babies come in due time, when they want to, blah blah blah. But it's hard when you're there and your back is hurting and you have folded those newborn clothes and diapers like 8 million times!

My babies were the other way around

I had a 35wk6day 7lb 13oz 20"
then my son was 38wks 3day at 8lbs 14oz 22"
I so expected him to be early also.
With my dd I was all "baby can cook as long as she wants, I'm happy being pregnant" She was born 10 days past her edd.

With this one I have that "any day now" feeling... I'm 36 weeks

My first two were born at 37 weeks and the third at 38 weeks. But my sisters for two were both born at 42 weeks and her third was born at 38 weeks.

Laura
My first was 38 weeks exactly.

My second was 40+2.
My first was three weeks late. second was two weeks early, third was two weeks late.
