I thought I would share in case there are any people out there thinking about trying EC with a baby over 6 months.

At 7 months DD had a bad diaper rash so I figured I might as well try EC. I caught a poop on Christmas (after a month of putting pressure on myself and then deciding to just do what I could and not sweat it). Since then I have been able to catch all but a few poops (when she had diarrhea) - she has a clear poop face. I started catching a few pees and doing the sign for potty.

Next thing I know she is doing the sign for potty. Her sign is clear enough my mom can read it and takes her to the potty when she looks after DD. In the last month we have stopped using diapers at home, and in the last couple weeks we have had many dry days. She points to the toilet and will even crawl over and try to put the potty seat on it when she has to go.

She really likes sitting on the toilet - I think because I read to her which she loves, so she will often sit there for quiet a while once she is finished and get me to read her more books.

We tried nighttime EC but she HATED it and I felt like I have to respect her.

I am so glad that I decided to try EC and that I found this board which has helped me so much.

DD is just starting to walk so I am crossing my fingers we don't have a potty strike on its way.

Thanks for sharing your success! Keep us updated on your progress. After reading a bit here, I'm thinking maybe the key is to try to relax about it- not putting too much pressure on you or your baby!

I definitely think that is the key! It was so stressful when I was beating myself up for every missed pee - it would really get me down.
