Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought 2 Firefly Sleeptight diapers, 2 soakers (1 LANA, 1 Aristocrat), and a LLL Nighty Newt soaker to use in a Happy Heiny. Up until now we've been using disposables (only at night) without any problem. But I have been getting grossed out by gel beads and stinky-chemical smelling urine laiden diapers in the morning-BLECH!-and something had to be done!

So far we've tried the NN Soaker in a Happy Heiny, and there were no leaks. Tonight he's in a FF Sleeptight with the LANA Soaker. But what comes to mind with both of these combos (the NN Soaker more-so than the FF), is that he's laying on a "log" of hemp. How uncomfortable that must be! What are your thoughts on this? Do your babies mind the lump they lay on? I wish it were more spread out so there wasn't a hump behind their back!

I think if he was uncomfortable he would tell you by crying or something. My DS does that. Do you know how often he wets at night? I know that my DS has stayed dry all night for months(before we even switched to cloth) and that he doesnt pee until about 5-6am and we get up at 9am so he never pees enough between then to leak. I use a happy heiny stuffed with a prefold or a fitted diaper and a wool soaker, and I have never had any leaks, well not yet!

I don't think it really bothers them. You would know if it did... he would probably not sleep well. I think the soakers add a lot of bulk to the equation as well. Maybe you could try a thin nylon cover instead if you are concerned about bulk.

I snappi a toddler prefold on Nathan every night (you can add a fleece liner if you think that would be better for you). I fold it down in the front since he's a back sleeper so he never lays on a lump of anything, it's nice and trim in the back but has a ton of absorbancy at the front. Works great and is really inexpensive! I agree with not wanting Nathan on a thick multi-layer rectangular soaker in the middle of his lower back/bottom. Plus I don't want elastic on him for 12 hours, just doesn't seem comfortable.
