NFP isn't quite the same as FAM, and I think that FAM is far more accurate. We have used it and been very happy. And I think it was fine to learn from a book, though I did have a sort of mentor which may have made a difference.

I don't know the differences, I just know that the person I kind of learned from was adamant that you are foolowing FAM and NOT NFP. That said, I never studied anything about NFP.
