I'll be traveling to Asia in May with 6 yr old, 2yr old and an infant without my husband. I would like to make or buy some kind of harness for my 2 year old (or something I can connect 2 and 6 yr old and me) that I can strap it to my wrist or waist.
Do you have any ideas what I can make? Also I plan to make some kind of t shirts with our address/phone numbers on it and have them wear it. Do you think this is a good idea?

Thank you so much~!

I definately wouldn't publish your phone number, address or the children's names anywhere on their persons. How about a small index card in their shoe with the appropriate information on it? Instruct your children on who to show it to and when.

As for the harness, lots of box stores sell backpacks with leashes attached. Or, you could just attach a dog leash to their existing backpacks. How about attaching the leashes to yourself and having your kids hold onto that, instead of you holding on to them? Not sure how you would make one, though.

I agree with PP I would NOT put my contact information on a T-shirt my child was wearing. Maybe you could get an engraved necklace (or "dog tags") or bracelet that would be easily visible to someone trying to contact you, but the information would not be available to the casual observer.

Having the kids hang on to you might work, if your kids are the sort who are going to willingly follow those directions. My kid is easily distracted and I wouldn't trust her to hold on if I couldn't be watching her.

put a contact number on a undershirt if you feel needed but never anywhere seen.
have them both wear a backpack all kid sized ones i have seen have a holding handle on the top. buy 2 cheep fabric leashes for dogs at the dollar store. the best way to put it on is the holding handle of the bag. thread the leash threw the loop of the bag and put the leash threw the clip on the leash that way it is attached to its self. you can attach the handle of the two leashes to you by one of those rock climbing clips. maybe one on each side of you atached to your backpack?

You can buy a simple non-backpack harness for less than 4$ at BRU. Not worth sewing one for that price!

Make sure you practice using it ahead of time- my son freake when I put it on him and it hasn't been used since!

Make sure you thoroughly label every piece of carry-on luggage too. I can just ses a toddler leaving their favorite stuffed animal in a waiting lounge somewhere and never seeing it again.

Also include the hotel information in the local language(s). Ask the hotel clerks for a business card for the hotel and tuck that in with your personal information in whatever place you use.

Speaking of which, some of those harnesses come with a little pocket in the front cross part specifically for a card with contact info.
