Tomorrow is my last day of work. I've been there three years and a few months. Is it weird to give my store manager and assistant manager a small gift (like a nice lotion, candle and body wash)? I've never quit a job before, so I don't know if that's "against the rules" - I do want to be hired back, and right now my rehire status is good. I don't want to seem like I'm sucking up, but they've been good to me. So would you give them a gift or just a card and let it go?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I'd include a note like 'I enjoyed working with you, best wishes'

Just a card, thanking them for the time you've had there. Perhaps something homemade--cookies or brownies. Anything more than that will seem like sucking up, IMHO.

I think a gift that's given from the heart with no strings attached is never inappropriate. I'm sure it would be appreciated by them....
