I founf out I was pregnant a week ago, so I am 4 weeks now. I had some mild cramping starting at 4dpo thru 10 dpo, then it stopped and I felt pretty good. So this morning I wake up feeling fine, but then it just started hurting on the left side only. I know one sided pain can be a sign of an ectopic. Would it just come on like this? I have not had any bleeding or any other weird symptoms.
so if this continues, how long is it safe to wait before i call the dr and go in?

Anything else I need to watch out for?

What else could this be?
Thanks

The pain could be "round ligament pain", which can occur on one or both sides of the lower abdomen. Round ligament pain is normal during pregnancy, as the ligaments supporting your uterus stretch to accommodate the increasing weight. There is a little bit more information at the following link:

http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pre...ealth/205.html

I had round ligament pain during the first third of my pregnancy, off and on. It usually occurred on my left side, although I had it sometimes on my right. It felt like a pinching sensation for me, but I've read that it can also feel like a dull ache or a stabbing pain.

I think that if you are concerned at all, you should call your doctor anytime. That's what the doctor is there for! If there's something wrong then it's better to find out sooner, and if there's nothing wrong then it's better to have your anxiety alleviated sooner.

All the best!

Okay, I was being silly. It hurt for awhile, then went away. I have had some more minor cramping, but i am guessing it is just stretching now.
I remember that round ligament pain, but I dont remember it starting this early. Is it possible to start so early? I cant imagine my uterus even enlarged at this point.

No such thing as being silly when you're concerned about your health and your baby's health! I'm not sure when round ligament pain can start, I don't even remember when I first started experiencing mine. I still think that if you have any concerns or are feeling worried about anything it doesn't hurt to call your doctor.

If you want to read a bit more about what's going on with you during each stage of pregnancy, you can check out the pregnancy pages on ivillage.com. Here's a link for 4 weeks of pregnancy:

http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregna...nc26-2,00.html

It's not really comprehensive by any means, but it's just interesting to take a look at from time to time.

Best wishes!
