My dd just loves to read. I read to her alot and she will sit by herself and pretend to read for most of her independent playtime, so I decided to get her some more books for the holidays this year.
SO... I thought it might be fun to share some of our kids favorite books!

Her two favorite books are:

*chugga chugga choo choo
by Kevin Lewis

*Patrick the pup
by Sheila Black

She also loves Dora books, but I know not everyone is a Dora fan! My dd is two and she loves trains, though Thomas freaks her out. She also loves dogs

And, unfortunately, Barney books

And Clifford is big with her these days.

DD1 is 2.5yo and a total bookworm...she "reads" while walking, "reads" to her toys, and generally falls asleep with a book on her face. So books are a hot item around here and titles fall into and out of favor all the time. Right now her "again!" list includes:

--If You Give a... (mouse/cookie, moose/muffin, pig/pancake) series by Laura Numeroff
--The Accidental Zucchini; an unexpected alphabet by Max Grover
--All By Myself and Just a Rainy Day both by Mercer Mayer (she really likes any Little Critter book)
--Rainstorm by Barbara Lehman (no words, just images of a young boy's adventure during a rainstorm)
--almost anything by Dr Seuss
--Big Dog, Little Dog by PD Eastman
--The End by David LaRochelle (really clever and well illustrated fairy tale told in reverse)

Ds (30 mo) loves books with trains, trucks, or cars. We currently have this oversized book from the library all about vehicles and he LOVES it.

He also is enjoying "Fast Food" (can't remember the author...it's a book about vehicles where all the vehicles are made from veggies and fruits. It's pretty cool).

(Oh, we get most of our books from the library, so I usually don't know the authors)

He LOVED "Shoe Baby" or possibly "Baby Shoe" about a baby who has adventures in a shoe

He also loved this book called "Banana!" which is about....you guessed it! Bananas!

Sandra Boynton is big. If we see Thomas the Tank Engine or Dora books at the library, he wants to get them.

He's pretty eclectic in his book tastes. You just never know which book is going to catch his fancy. But when one does, we read it EVERY day. Which is why I adore the library...I don't get TOO sick of any one book!

My dd loves "The Fourteen Bears Summer and Winter," almost anything Dr. Seuss, "The Little Engine That Could," and the Eric Carle collection of books...just off the top of my head.

Oh and she also really likes Corduroy books as well as "Big Dog Little Dog" and "Go Dogs Go," which we got in a neat pop-up/pull-out version from TJ Maxx or Marshall's or something.

DD is 13 months and right now she's into Pat the Bunny. She, uh, likes to pat the bunny. She also likes it when I read Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb, but I think that's mainly because we dance when I read it. Oh, and she has always liked the DK My First Word Book. She likes the real pictures.

Books that do not keep her interest are educational ones without rhythm or a story, like A-Z books or counting books (even Sandra Boynton's Dog and Counting Book).
