Seriously, ladies -- I just read back and found that there are several RI'ers here -- anyone with a 2 year old who wants to meet at the park? (I live in Exeter so I am equidistant to everywhere in the state -- Prov, South COunty, Westerly, you name it -- even SE Connecticut)

I am all business right now I just had my second baby and my daughter is BORED with me. We need new friends

Oooh, playgroup, I have a great park in my area. It is actually refered to as "The Baby Park" because it is perfection for the under 5 set. Is Providence too far to go? There is also a great independent bookstore and several coffee shops just blocks away, so it is worth the drive. We may be crazy, but we use the park even in winter since there is refuge from the cold so nearby.

I think we have been private messaging!

No, Providence isn't too far away. During warm weather we like the playground in Roger Williams Park.

I'm guessing you are on the East Side with the coffee shops and bookstore.

Let's plan something for January. We can play outside and them come in for some hot chocolate when our toes start to freeze.

Anyone else in? Stacy?

We could also meet at the Cumberland Library. They have a wonderful, brand-new playground and a HUGE children's room with toys.

Ha Ha, I don't drive, mudley doesn't have a car, this is going to take some doing!
Dh would be happy to drive me and the boys to Cumberland if that would be better for mudley and crew. The buses DO go to the East Side, and Thayer Street is in the general area, but Wayland is east of Thayer. I'm sure I can find out which bus you'd want. Dh says Ripta.com is the place to find out. The rout would be called something like "Elmgrove/Butler Hospital" and the stop is on Angell Street in Wayland Square.
We are library lovers so Cumbie would be fun if you all don't mind my dh hanging around, too. He's small, he won't get in the way .

Hi all,
Glad to see people want to meet up! I'm in Smithifield and would love a playgroup...but most likely won't get out for a couple of months. I am quitting my homedaycare, this is good news(though hard to do, sniff). Now, I homeschool my 9yr old son and my dd is 10 months...and walking!!! I will be trying to start an online wahm soon too.
I will keep an eye on the days and see when I can go.

Hi everyone. I am new to this thread. I use to live in RI but moved away about 4 years ago. DH and I miss it so much, we are moving back. We are waiting this second for our prequalification to put a bid in on a house on the East Side of Prov. I can't wait to see my old friends and make new ones.
I would love to learn more about playgroups in the area. I will have to work full-time, but will have weekends and holidays to join in. We should be moving come summer.

If you wouldn't mind a girl with a newborn hanging around, I would love to meet up with some fellow mommies (been feeling kinda alone out here)! I live in Cranston and I'm sure sometime this summer I would be up to getting together for something. Though I know a lot of this time's gonna be taken to getting used to this parenting thing!
I'm going to have to find a part-time job sometime after the summer but I will still be the person home during the day with the baby.

Just thought I'd chime in...

We have bought a house on the East side of Providence near Miriam Hospital. We are closing May 28th and then we have some work on the house before we move in the end of June. I will let everyone know when I am free for playdates. I can't wait to come back. I really have been homesick for RI. I miss my friends.
We bought a 2 family and my parents are moving with us, so I will have inhome afterschool/day care available to me. YEAH!!! .
I have a part time job lined up, but am still looking for something fulltime. I should be available for playdates starting in July. There are some great parks near the house.
My kids are 5 1/2 and 2 1/2. The older one loves to mommie little kids - it have really helped with my younger one.
Gotta run. More soon. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Hello everyone,

Has anyone been to Roger Williams park lately? They have a wonderful new playground next to the carosel. I couldn't help but think it'd be a good place for a meet-up. And I notice a few of you live in Cranston. Now that the weather is nice we're itching to get out more! Congrats on the house, mingber, that's a lovely neighborhood. Be sure to stop in at Seven Stars Bakery on Hope Street. Ginger muffins, mmmmmmn. Stop in at Books on the Square in Wayland Sq. some Sunday and say hello to my Dh, too. They have a good bulliten board in the children's section if you need to find a babysitter, etc. Welcome to Rhodie to you, too, ella. How long have you lived here?

What days are best for everyone? Sunday is really the only not good day for us since dh is at work and I don't drive. Hope to meet you all soon!

Hi!We'd love to attend!Roger Williams sounds perfect! We went there last year with the congential heart defects group Heart 2 Heart and the kids LOVED it!There are actually 3 seperate playgrounds, one for toddlers, one for preschoolers, and one for the older kids. They also have a Candyland walkway,a giant Tonka truck(Gabey's fav),a big swing thingee, and a huge Mr.Potato Head.Plus a big wooden playhouse.I know the kids will love to go back,we still have carousel tokens from the last time.I can get up there on weekends,or during the week around or after 3pm,unless I bus it,which shouldn't be too hard.Still no car for us!Hope to hear from everyone!

Thanks, Amy for PMing me!!

Ouch! My long reply just got lost. Pooh!

Any way, the gist was this:

I propose we start off by meeting on Sat the 22nd at Roger Williams Park, since sats seem good for most of us and there is much enthusiasm about that park. Unfortunately they're predicting rain for this comming Sat, the 15th. If anyone has a good indoor place, or we want to meet durring the week next week, let's here it! I'm excited to meet up! My dh looked over my shoulder and said, "All those people live in RI?"

soooo...

Saturday the 22nd?

Hi ladies, it's great to see this thread revived. Sorry that I haven't replied to any messages, but you know how things go. Pretty crazed around here at the moment. We would love to meet up with you all, we go to the Baby Park on the East side, and also to the Hasbro playground at Roger Williams Park too, at least twice a week, although this week has been tough.
I saw that Saturday was looking like a good day for most, although it has been pretty busy at the weekend there, but still good fun to play!
We take some duck food to feed the ducks also, DD loves that!
Well, better run, hope to meet you all soon xxx Jasmine
