Help, Mamas! I need inspiration. Somehow I don't think these Smart Puffs are the best snack that I could be eating, and the meals we've been eating lately leave much to be desired. Heeeelp!<br><br>

Craving: Really into fruit with cheese lately<br><br>
Snacks: Apples/pears/cucumbers and raw cheese (lots of cheese), banana with almond butter, sprouted bagels with raw butter (lots), eggs (sunnyside up or softboiled), avocado and cheese (with salsa) on toasted, sprouted bread<br><br>
Healthy meals: We do a lot of baked meats (steak, chicken, etc. with butter and garlic) with vegetables (steamed broccoli, cabbage cooked in butter in skillet, salad with grated beet, carrots, cucumber and topped with brewer's yeast); sometimes a good turkey burger with tons of fixings<br><br>
Getting hungry...

Oh yes, food. I go from one extreme to another. It's mainly fruit (today it's watermelon) but sometimes I can't seem to get coleslaw off my brain! :p I'm still down 11 pounds this pg because I've changed my eating habits so drastically. The pressure will be on in the 3rd trimester to get in tons of protein, so I'll probably start gaining then.<br><br>
Something else I can't get enough of are fruit leather from Trader Joe's. YUMMMM!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/drool.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="drool"><br><br>

Cravings: Fried foods, chocolate. Bad Lacie, bad. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/blush.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="blush"><br><br>
Healthy snacks: I've been eating a ton of baby carrots and watermelon. Also fresh pineapple when I can get my hands on it! Delish!<br><br>
Healthy meals: I made some really great chili last week--lots of beans for fiber and diced tomatoes for lycopene. Yummy! One of these days I'm going to make my South Beach chicken parmesan--I don't bread the chicken. I've also been making some yummy stirfries--lots of veggies.

Almonds, Hard Boiled eggs sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning, ummm...not many snacking foods around here. Last pregnancy, I liked a chilled Granny Smith apple, sliced, sprinkled with cinnamon & lemon juice. I also love cottage cheese and pineapple. Homemade yogurt with raw honey, cinnamon, and ginger & a sprinkle of Kashi Go-Lean Crunch. Hummus & pita, veggies. I lurve Green & Black's Maya Gold Dark Chocolate. I count a lowfat Chai latte as a snack, but not often because of the sugar. In place of soda or wine, I like 'Pom' pomegrante juice mixed with mineral water.<br><br>
What are your favorite healthy meals?<br><br>
Black Bean Chili with fresh salsa and avocados. Grilled steak and a garden salad. Ginger Lime grilled chicken (Tandoori Style) with cilantro rice and cucumber tomato raita. I keep an emergency Tyson roasted chicken in the fridge, for quick meals. Chunk light tuna mixed with Balsamic dressing instead of mayo, on a bed of romaine (from a bag) and a sliced boiled egg, shredded carrots, etc. I am a hardened carnivore <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/bag.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Bag">: .
